Potentially up to £49mil

Needless to say this info is a sobering thought.

Wouldn't pay 49p for him. He really does not perform on the big stage.

Yup. Yet another English player whom the media have built up.

The more the media build up an English "diamond" the bigger ego that player is going to get and nowt will happen to his career. Wilshire, Grealish and Zaha to name a few.

Only any good when he has better players than him around him. Suarez made Sterling look like a star three years ago, and as soon as he went to Barca, Sterling looked distinctly average. Even in a Man City team full of stars, he looks like nothing more than a supporting player.

Horrible attitude. Hope he flops.

Man City didn't just pay 49 million for Sterling, they allowed Milner to leave them on a free for Liverpool. As yesterday showed, I would pick Milner ahead of Sterling every time.

I totally agree. A dream player for any manager to have in my opinion because of his versatility, graft and character. He can never beat a player for pace, but there's so much to his game that doesn't get noticed. A very clever player who outperforms Sterling (and other overrated players) in the big games every time.

Agree with all of that he was a brilliant signing for Liverpool.

I believe it was the sale of Milner that caused Kevin Keegan to quit Newcastle the second time? Valuable player to have in your team without question.

When he retires, he will do it quietly and without fanfare, but for me he's one of the better British players of the past ten years even if his international recognition doesn't suggest that.

Couldn't agree more. He's an English player who is ACTUALLY underrated.
