IMMERS IMPRESSING

Immers is an interesting player in that he doesn't necessarily get you on the edge of your seat and he's not even the type of No.10 that is going to start threading balls through an eye of a needle. But he is almost a stereotypical Dutch footballer in that his touch and technique can make all the difference, sometimes just in simply playing in a teammate. His intelligence helps him make the right runs and has certainly added something to this side.

MALONE DEFENDING NEEDS TO IMPROVE

Scott Malone's two touches in the build-up to Cardiff's penalty were delightful and he should take plenty of credit for Pilkington's score, but the former Millwall man does make you wish he showed as much guile on the back foot as the front.

Malone could point to the fact the Cardiff system leaves him more exposed than other defenders, but a lot of the left-back's problems when he plays are of his own making. He seems to suffer from lapses in concentration – ballooning one attempted clearance over his own bar here and switching off as Preston had one disallowed for offside – and he doesn't fill you with confidence when attacks appear down his side. If he can focus and balance out his game he could turn into an asset.

GUNNARSSON FAILS TO TAKE HIS CHANCE

With Peter Whittingham missing with a calf problem expected to keep him out for up to two weeks, this was a chance for Aron Gunnarsson to lay claim to a position but while the Iceland international remains steady, he was nothing more here. In fact, while he has other attributes and knows how to help protect a defence, his lack of impact was shown up by the energy of Stuart O'Keefe who has really made the most of his return to favour.

Immers is well on the way to legendary status. Leading up to the first penalty he was actually in the left back position snuffing out danger before stating the move which led to the penalty. The only thing missing is a decent song

To be fair to Malone, our left sided midfielders always seem to drift inside and stay there, leaving Malone responsible for leading all the attacks down that wing as well as all the defending.

Gunnarsson along with Fabio are two players I just don't know how they made it into the professional ranks.

Fabio is just in the wrong set up.

Gunnar looks more like a rugby player now, he must has put on 10Kgs of muscle since he signed. Not sure what position he needs to be now to be effective again. The heavy pitches helped him around christmas as it slowed everyone down and his strength came through.

He needs it. His lack of strength in the premiership cost him many times. His ball retention or lack thereof was brutally exposed

not sure it was strength, just lack of technique.

Funnily enough every manager tried him as a CM and eventually pushed him into a 10 or attacking midfielder because he flatters to deceive.

Lawrence has to take a lot of the criticism that Malone gets from Saturday, doesn't pick up their full backs which lead to Preston always using the overlap on Malone.

Where does Gunnar play for Iceland? He always seems to have a good game for his country.
