Pilks - Post Match Reaction.

After collecting the man of the match award from our 2-1 win over Preston North End, Anthony Pilkington spoke to the press and media at Cardiff City Stadium.

With usual penalty taker Peter Whittingham unavailable for the match, Pilkington took full responsibility of penalty duties – dispatching two spot kicks to earn three points for City.

“With Whitts not playing, I said to my dad last night that if we get a penalty I’m going to grab the ball,” Pilkington began. “My record of scoring penalties wasn’t too good before today, but thankfully the two have gone in, and we got the three points. There was no nominated penalty taker today, but as soon as I went down, I jumped back up to grab the ball. I was always confident that I could score.

“The goals have come again today thankfully, and more importantly we got the three points. If Preston had come here and beaten us today, they would have gone above us. They were on a really good run, so it’s a massive win for us today.

“I think there are a couple of places up for grabs in the play-offs, if you look at the teams who have dropped points this weekend. It’s going to go right to the wire, and hopefully we can pick up enough points to sneak in there come the end of the season.”

Anthony also gave credit to two of our January recruits, Tom Lawrence and Lex Immers, who both produced impressive displays against North End.

“They’ve both settled really well. Obviously we knew what type of player Tom was before he came here, and Lex has settled in really well. He’s thriving in that position. The last three or four games he’s played in there have been brilliant, he’s scoring goals and looking dangerous. They are definitely good acquisitions for us to go into the end of the season.”

I agree and not a pipe dream now, well within reality. Love to see us prove the doubters wrong go on a run and see the fans back both home and away. Momentum is gathering, it's for the taking. Can we take it?

I really like Pilks. Good player and great passion. We need a chant for him. A simple An-toe-nee Pilkington (repeat several times) to the tune of "we're just too good for you". Fits lovely. :bluescarf: :ayatollah:
