Everton goalkeeper on the verge of leaving

Saturday 27th Frb 2016

Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard is on the verge of completing a move to Colorado Rapids, according to ESPN FC in USA.

The MLS side's manager Tim Hinchey reportedly flew to England to finalise the deal, which would see Howard moving at the end of the season.

Howard has made more than 400 appearances since moving to Everton in 2006.

Sources with in Everton football club say they have lined up a Championship goalkeeper from the English league.

I hope not as we all know he's settled and his family love it here. Saying that, he's 31 soon and who could blame him if he wanted to spend a few seasons playing in the PL if we don't go up soon.

The Scottish international was one of the few shining stars in the Bluebirds' escapade in the Premier League, and he has been attracting attention from Premier League clubs since the stint in the top-flight.

Since dropping down to the Championship, he has continued to show his quality and, with nine clean sheets this season for Cardiff, he has been instrumental to them challenging for the play-offs.

Everton will be looking at bringing in a keeper in the summer as there are rumours that Tim Howard is looking to leave after nine years at the club.

Manager Roberto Martinez confirmed that he is no longer guaranteed to be the number one goalkeeper at the club, and it is looking more likely that Howard will leave to potentially join the Major League Soccer side Colorado Rapids.

With Everton needing a keeper and Marshall being of proven Premier League and international quality, Martinez might highlight him as their number one target.

However, Marshall is only two years into a four year contract, which may force Everton to pay £10 million for the goalkeeper's services.

Manager Russell Slade and Cardiff will be hoping that that is enough to discourage any suitors, as he is quintessential to any success that Cardiff are to have.

If Marshall is to go (and best of luck if he does) then we should hold out for a big transfer fee. Everton have just taken on a new investor and will be awash with cash from the new TV deal. I can see an £8-10m deal being done.

My friend who supports Everton thinks they will give Joel Robles a chance as they have been doing lately, and hopes he stays as the number one keeper. I think the fans like him. Hopefully this means they go for backup from someone else in the Champ, I would hate to see Marshall go there and not be number one.
