A forum for all things Cardiff City

Back a few years and dare I say back in the days of Ninain Park we had a reputation of giving the famous Cardiff welcome. We were voicefourous to say the least and when we played away we was loud and proud.
Now to the present day ! when away trips are muted, and at home we get out sung by every single set of away fans. In fact I am struggling to think of the last time we out sung the away fans.
Today PNE Fans were class and I was thinking during the game "we used to be like that" But it's gone !! Other fans used to say to me "your fans are nuts fair play" or "Wow never heard fans so noisy" but now we are laughed at.
If it comes to passionate loud fans I'm afraid we have gone from Premiere league to Sunday football. I know many will say we have moved on now but to me I just struggle to recognise this new way of supporting CCFC. PNE fans sang at us many times today "is this a Library ?" And all I could think of was it ain't that loud in here.
But a final word great win today well happy with the result but left feeling a low on how our support has turned out.

I have been saying this for the last two years Nukes, even going back to Malkys first season it was okayish. Now it's terrible and putting a lot of people off going. Going to watch football is far more than what's going on on the pitch, it was the whole day that was enjoyable. Our match day experience is tragic now and I firmly believe we have one of the worst atmospheres in the league.

Cant agree with you more Chief. When they had there goal disallowed it allowed a bit of banter for a limited time. To be fair it was quite amusing but our fans just don't do banter these days either. I do find the lack of atmosphere effects my match day experience as you say it's more than just what happens on the pitch. But it's now drink your tea or coffee sit down shut the fook up and watch the match........BORING !!

Spot on.
Preston fans were great today and very little from our fans.
Part of it down to our club, even had police filming us today in the Ninian stand when we were standing up. But at the same time, can't just blame the club. It comes down to us as well.

problem is the few chanters we have are in the furthest part of the ground from the away fans. i was in there i couldnt here the preston fans, our stadium can have an atmosphere leicester, palace man utd man city games spring to mind.sadley most of the time it is a library.theres no home fans anywhere near the away.nearest home fans arent chanters. west ham in for a big shock going to new stadium .london grounds have stands very close to the pitch.believe there new stadium doesnt?

Modern grounds doesn't help Chief. And I do understand what you say as I didn't hear the Canton once today. Not even Vinces drum. But the PNE fans were fantastic

Modern Football for you times have changed more soccer am types going now rather than hard working guys !

Always someone else to blame, stadium has proved time and again it can generate a good atmosphere.
Singing songs, chanting equals atmosphere, our fans just don't do it.
Sat Feb 27, 2016 8:11 pm
Nukes, I sit right in front of you in the ninian stand and agree, our atmosphere is terrible. I moved to the canton at half time just for a sing song.

Was stood up in the Ninian stand for all of 5 mins today and on my way for half time pint had a welcoming party of stewards who were intent on kicking me out if I didn't remain seated in second half, questioned this Bollocks about pne being allowed to stand all throughout the game but that's ok like.jumped up stewards who need to know they are killing the ccfc atmosphere, was also told that I was being watched at all time from the security cameras, in all fairness I felt like a Leeds fan at Millwall, what right have these bastards got to film me for f**k all. I hate the ccfc experience these days, years ago the lads would of waded in to these assholes now the lot of you just except it, just as bad. You've all Been mugged off by grey haired stewards, grow a set for fucks sake.

Great game
Your all spot on. Its really frustrating I was sitting next to the family and for the most part of the game people were looking at me as if I was mental for chanting along with the Canton stand. The chants would spill over to us for a few seconds and die out.
It is a joke. It was really funny when the banter started at the end. Why can`t this be all the game. PNE has a great away support. Although the fans tried to start a fight against a random 17 yr old on the train. Although anti-hooliganism is a good thing the actions to stop it since the late 90`s has killed the atmosphere and has turned the CCS into a theatre. The club have gone to far.

The problem now is the stewards are backed up by plod at a seconds notice and CCTV. That is why these jumped up bullied at school twats are now so brave. You get stewards who are great and others are twats. But in the end the orders come from the top and just like the gestapo say we are only following orders.

Of coarse you can. The stadium is not the problem it's the muppets in charge that is out to destroy any atmosphere. But really also it's down to the change in the fans.

These posts grip my S!"t, why? And it's not directed at you, because fans moan constantly yet don't do anything about it. We will raise the roof against bristol, I also think we are all so spread out and separated by thousands of empty seats. I didn't stop singing against BHA but boy was it hard with limited numbers around you let alone those who wanted to join in.
Loads returning next year, we're all sitting together.

You didn't stop singing against Brighton?? Must of been on your own then fella. Who you kidding.?? Diabolical that's what it is an the sooner you hardcore pussys accept this the better. When we are getting described like a library then alarm bells are ringing. HELLO!!!

The only time I heard the Preston fans was when they scored and when they thought they scored. Totally out sang them from a Canton stand perspective. Maybe you should move.

I actually said today, some one would say this, they were class and sang loud and clear for 90% of the game

Spot on, Preston lost the match but outsung us cardiff fans til the end even when 2-0 down. It's a f*cking joke down the stadium these days all want to get a grip or don't bother going at all.!!!

That is the problem. The away fans can't hear our singers and ours can't hear there's. So there is no banter. Move the canton by the away fans is the only answer IMO. Yes I am considering moving to the canton but even there no banter because the away fans can't hear you.

I know it's hard but ignore them. No one was breaking the law, and I hasten to add is it illegal to stand up ? Just film them back on your mobile

Well then I guess that it's different wherever you take your seat in the Stadium. Preston fans probably couldn't hear us and vice versa. If you watch the game a few seats away from the away fans then you are bound to hear them. But I honestly couldn't from the back of the Canton. As long as our players heard us that's all that matters.

I hope they did because where we were in the Ninian I thought this ain't inspiring to our players
