Port Vale have today extended the loan of Cardiff City winger Matthew Kennedy until April 26th. The former Everton wide-man initially joined the Valiants on a one-month deal but has impressed during his time in the Potteries.
Matthew Kennedy’s time with the League One Port Vale will continue after his loan was extended today. The young Scot played just twelve minutes of football for the Bluebirds before joining Vale on a months loan in January, where he has played six times.
Vale were keen to snap up Kennedy as they continue their push for the League One play-offs. Rob page’s men are currently eleventh and seven points off the play-offs, however they have played two games more than their rivals. Kennedy also made it clear from the outset that he intended to stay at Vale until later on or until the end of the season.
The former Everton wide-man featured heavily for Cardiff last season after signing on a free transfer from Everton in January, making nine appearances. Kennedy will continue to get valuable experience at Vale Park before returning to the Cardiff City Stadium, it’s understood that Cardiff have no intentions to sell him at this point.
Cardiff currently have Craig Noone, Anthony Pilkington, Sammy Ameobi and Tom Lawrence at their disposal in Kennedy’s position so his loan extension will suit all parties involved. Kennedy will continue his development at Port Vale before returning to Cardiff towards the end of April 26th.
