Financial publication say Tan is off Malaysian Billionaires list following 'difficult year for Malaysian tycoons', but his commitment to Bluebirds remains full on

Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan has lost his billionaire status, according to Forbes’ Malaysia rich list.

The financial publication reports Tan’s worth has dropped under the billion dollar mark with a current worth of around $900million.

It sees the Bluebirds’ backer drop to 17th from 14th in the magazine’s annual list, this year headed by Robert Kuok who is worth a staggering $10billion at the age of 92.

Tan has underlined his utter commitment to Cardiff City by converting around £68m of his debt to equity and pledging to make the club completely debt free within five years.

Malaysia’s currency, the ringgit, has lost around 12% of its value against the dollar. Combined with the stock market fall of around 9%, it has catered for a “difficult year for Malaysian tycoons”, according to Forbes.

It means the Malaysian Billionaires list has shrunk from 16 members to 12, with Tan one of the four casualties.

Tan has invested more than £130 million into Cardiff City and recently announced his plans to wipe out the club’s debt by 2021.

As well as Cardiff, Tan also owns Bosnian side FK Sarajevo and Belgian outfit KVK Kortrijk while he is a minority shareholder in an American team.

Tan's millions have kept Cardiff afloat and he believes the club have a golden future, with the Sam Hammam loan notes saga finally at an end.

A few of you on here may follow this kind of stuff, but over the last 2 years mainly due to market share prices, Tan's so said wealth has gone down by around 700 million USD, the latest report say's his wealth is now 900 million USD.

Still far from broke, and I am sure if he sold all his assets he would be worth well over a billion, anyway just information if any of you were interested.

Wouldn't take any notice of the Forbes rich list as it's total bolloxs. 5 years ago they had our owner Tony Bloom with a personal fortune of £30 million and in the last 5 years he's spent £200m and is spending another £50m on our hotel at the ground but Thorbes still have him at £30m.

I'd like to rob banks that Tony Bloom robs :ayatollah:
