Ken Choo Statement for Cardiff City Fc

Ken Choo: “I am pleased to confirm that the Club has today made full payment to Langston's lawyers in accordance with the agreement made on 1st February 2016 which concluded the long-standing dispute with them."

Media report

One of the most significant days in Cardiff City history as Bluebirds FINALLY sever ties with Sam Hammam

Yet £2million will be paid to Langston if Cardiff City in the future are ever prompted to the Premier League

Friday 26th Feb 2016

It's the end of the Langston loan notes saga as Bluebirds pay off the final £5m sum and wave goodbye to Hammam

Vincent Tan can finally rid himself of the debt to Langston.

Sam Hammam still stays as life President of Cardiff City.

Cardiff City will finally sever ties with Sam Hammam when they pay off the final sum of the Langston debt today.

The Bluebirds will give Langston approximately £5million as a settlement, although we understand Hammam will receive a further seven-figure sum if Cardiff are promoted to the Premier League.

Technically, Monday is D-day for the Bluebirds to deliver on the Hammam deal, after court action by Langston for recovery of the money was withdrawn at the last minute.

However, Cardiff say the money due will be paid today and that definitively means the end of the loan notes saga which has been hanging like a noose over the club's head for a number of years.

Sam gambled and lost.

In my opinion he was only ever in it for the money - that's fine but all this "in it together" and us being his "family" was a load of old cobblers.

He was a chancer who came up short. Unfortunately for him Tan has the money to walk the walk - all Sam could do was talk the talk.

Hopefully they'll also remove his "Life Presidency" or whatever title he still holds at the club and sever all ties with him completely.

It looks like Langston got all the money in the end and costly to Tan

Don't you mean Sam gambled and won, he got all his money back and in the process shafted Dictator Tan. And the funniest thing of it all is that he still sits as Life President of the club :bluebird:

Sam certainly gambled, lost and is very fortunate to get most of his money back.

Personally I have nothing against Sam Hammam and he did start the revolution which led to the golden decade. He certainly got the idea of a new 21st Century stadium off the ground, even if he didn't see the job through.

It is easy to throw around insults/labels such as Scam, chancer etc. but I still hold him in esteem. Black Friday and the events which followed were not his greatest moment but fans fail to take the whole circumstances of what Ridsdale/PMG and all did to him.

Also most of the negative stories about him were put out there by Peter Ridsdale a person who truly did rip the club off and had his own agenda.

I'm glad he's got his money back and I hope some day Vincent gets some or all of his back to.

That's the bit that sticks in the throat. "Got all his money back".

Set up and offshore fund to anonimise the investment so that he could say that it was "someone else" asking for the loan back.

NEVER had the intention of just taking equity in the club but would have happily reaped the benefits had we made it big during his tenure.

No risk for him really. All the risk was the clubs especially when there were threats of administration from, the once unknown, Langston.

But hey ho, he got his money back, the cheeky chappy that he is. Look at that face, look at it, you gotta love him. He was one of us, he often told us he loved us.

I'm not privy to all of the information but it would appear that Sam spent £24m on Cardiff City and received £24m back.

However, for 12 years that money was tied up in Loan Notes which bore him no interest as it was all written off a long with the infamous administration fees which were charged but never paid.

At a guess I would say he lost out on £5m he could have got for simply putting it in a cash interest account. Also it is not true to state there was no risk to his investment. One dip into administration and the vast majority of it would have disappeared overnight. Personally I think he has been amazingly lucky as well as dogged in getting his cash back.

Most ironic thing about Sam getting his money back is that it now means all the champagne and prawn sandwiches the two coach loads had on their trip to Mansfield with Sam has now been paid for by tan. :o
