" DAVID MARSHALL TO LEAVE CITY?"

Fri Feb 26, 2016 10:53 am

Cardiff City are expecting summer bids for 'ultra professional' David Marshall

Russell Slade concedes it could be tough to keep David Marshall

Friday 26th February 2016

Slade today said

I wouldn’t be surprised if there were one or two clubs seeking his services because he’s a top keeper. I think every player wants to play at the highest level because he’s ambitious and wants to be successful, it’s the same of most players. If it was the right move at the right time, I’m sure it would apply to David. If it comes, but it’s important we hang onto our best players and he falls into that category.

Praise for fantastic Marshall

Fantastic ambassador for the football club, very professional in everything he does and his performances are always to a very high standard. We’re fortunate to have someone of that stature in the building.

If we don't go up, which let's face it is likely, then I can't see him sticking around.

We've done really well to keep him as long as we have. I don't think any of us could blame him if he does go.

If we don't go up he will be gone!

Can't blame him stayed with us as long as he dared and been a great servant.

Followed out by Manga, noone and pilkington I am afraid

Every season they say the same bollocks if he wanted to go he would've gone a long time ago

That's exactly what I think. He loves Cardiff and is settled here. Would he settle as a number 2 goalkeeper in the Premier League when he plays week in, week out here? He's a family man so I can't see his family opting to relocate. :ayatollah:

I'd say he's more likely to stay than leave. :thumbright:

I would usually back that, as his family are very settled and would refer to stay

However, it recently emerged that approaches were rebuked by the club and he (Marshall) was disappointed that he wasn't allowed to at least talk to the teams involved (one believed to include The Arsenal) ;)

He did want to go when prem clubs came in, but unlike many other modern pro's he didn't blab about it and use the media as leverage. Maintained his professionalism.
