A forum for all things Cardiff City

Cardiff City had to spend £3.2 million to sack former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and bring in a new boss in 2014, according to The Sun.
26th Feb 2016
Solskjaer was sacked as manager of Cardiff in September 2014 after a poor run of form in the Championship, but his exit was not cheap for the Welsh side.
Cardiff first appointed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager of the club in January 2014 in the hope that a managerial change would help them survive and keep their Premier League status.

With the money we waste on paying up players contracts and settling managers conteacts. Tickets could be free.

Was always guaranteed to fail here. He had no Premier League managerial experience. Let alone a relegation battle and was never in that situation as a player.
Wasted stupid money. Useless in the Championship. Terrible appointment all round. Russell Slade is doing a much better job.

He cost us more than that, the difference between Premiership and Championship income.

We got relegated from the premier league with a whimper...the players basically gave up without a fight..we were not just beaten by other teams but hammered by some really ordinary teams in the last few months of the season...
An absolutely pathetic manager...£3.2 million for a total failure....unbelievable!!!!

I have to agree when you look at Aston Villa this season you see much the same thing. What angers me is Crystal Palace who came up with us were nailed on to go down early season but found some backbone and survived easily in the end. On promotion we were streets ahead of Hull and C Palace but both moved on, we didn't.
I still think Malky McKay was a great manager but the way he went about his business behind closed doors leaves a lot to be desired. If only he concentrated on the team rather than dodgy signings and silly racist texts he would have kept us up.

We would still be in red, with a beer mat badge if we stayed up, so to me relegation was a price worth paying. Saying that, Ole is definitely the worst Manager we ever had, even more than the much maligned Alan Durban.
