Tom Adeyemi fails to seize big chance

Thu Feb 25, 2016 11:08 am

Cardiff City loanee Tom Adeyemi failed to seize his big chance for Leeds United in place of Liam Bridcutt.

Tom Adeyemi had been waiting for a starting opportunity for Leeds, not selected in the line-up by Steve Evans since the draw against Derby County in late December.

The Cardiff City loanee got the chance he had been waiting for against Fulham on Tuesday night, but did he do enough?

Adeyemi did not let Leeds down in any particular way, but he was not involved any where near enough, from an attacking or defensive perspective.

He was in for Sunderland loanee Liam Bridcutt, who missed the game due to personal reasons, and it would be a surprise if he keeps his place in the side next Monday against Brighton.

Adeyemi touched the ball a paltry 29 times in 87 minutes on the pitch, while midfield partner Toumani Diagouraga did so 52 times.

He is one of only eight midfield players in the Championship this season to play more than 85 minutes in a game and touch the ball less than 30 times.

It is also the second time he has done this. Against Bristol City at Ashton Gate early in the season he played all 90 minutes and managed just 27 touches.

good job he came through a UK academy, there is no chance in hell a player with so little football ability gets through a spanish or french academy

if I was his agent, i'd ask him to consider giving up the game completely, maybe start a window cleaning business or something like that

Vincent Tan, this is as close as it gets to flushing £1mil down the toilet

Adeyemi signed a three-year contract with Championship club Cardiff City, managed by Ole Gunnar Solskjær, on 7 August 2014.[25] The fee was undisclosed, but reported in the Birmingham Mail as "in excess of £1 million, with add-ons [and] a sell-on clause".

With us, Adeyemi failed to block a single shot in 20 appearances.

With Leeds, Adeyemi is 1 of only 8 players to play 85 minutes and not touch the ball 30 times.

I hope everyone can agree Slade was right loaning Adeyemi out now.

They gone quiet now mate, was uproar from the usual suspects and while I wasn't against him in truth he hadn't done much either albeit with limited playing time. Maybe needs to go down a division to come back a better player.
