John Toshack era

Just read one of the most stupid comments on your board about Swans reaching the top using Liverpool players.

This was the reason they got into financial problems. The board at the time should have been saying no to these transfers and building that stand instead of signing players past their sell by date with no possibility of recovering their money.

It is all very well singing the likes of Tommy Smith, Ian Callaghan Colin Irwin and Ray Kennedy but in hindsight whilst it was great whilst it lasted it proved to be a poor decision. This also applies to the likes of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbank with you.

Good practice is to buy younger players and sell them on for profit. It is noticeable clubs like Liverpool are following that policy now.

Huw Jenkins and co have got that right unlike their predecessors. Profits on players like Bony Shelvey Davies Allan and Sinclair is the correct way forward and that would apply to your club as well. It is impossible to try and compete with the Man Utd of this world. They turned over in excess of 400 million and there is absolutely no way Swansea or Cardiff will ever match their global brand
