" LEX IMMERS? "

To be fair, Lex Immers could be forgiven for sitting on the Cardiff City bench scratching his head in puzzlement.

The 29-year-old arrived on loan from Dutch outfit Feyenoord last month and in many ways seemed the answer to the Bluebirds’ prayers, an experienced midfielder, who can play up-front and has an eye for gaol.

And it seemed that was where Russell Slade would employ him. Immers made his debut coming off the bench against Rotherham and put himself about a bit, then he got his first start in the good win at Huddersfield and even scored a goal on his full Bluebir
The tactical changes Cardiff City boss Russell Slade should consider to solve his team's attacking woes

Immers has had to sit on the bench unused for Cardiff during their last two matches watching as his new side has drawn a blank, first at home to MK Dons and away at Charlton .

Cardiff manager Russell Slade has a dilemma with Sammy Ameobi suspended
Slade has preferred to go with Tom Lawrence, who also arrived on loan last month just after Immers, along-side winger now striker, Anthony Pilkington. When he has looked to his substitutes to add firepower it is Federico Macheda the Cardiff boss has tuned to rather than Immers. Many have been left surprised, none more so than Immers himself one suspects.

The whole situation is symptomatic of the problems which have beset the Bluebirds in attack all season. Two goalless draws on the bounce against side’s struggling near the bottom of the table is nowhere near good enough for a side with any real aspirations of making the play-offs if we are being honest.

It has been difficult for Slade though, departures and injuries have seen the Cardiff front-line rarely settled, with new partnerships regularly being introduced. So how about adding another to the mix?

Anthony Pilkington has been operating further forward of late
This Saturday’s clash with Brighton in the Welsh capital could well hand Slade the chance to move things round again.

Sammy Ameobi, another loan player this time for the season from Newcastle, is suspended after seeing a red card at The Valley and probably the pick of Slade’s widemen, Craig Noone is a doubt having missed the last three games with injury.

Slade could have a problem on his right-flank, but he does indeed have the options to do something about it at least.

The plan? Start with Immers, up-front to partner Lawrence, the opportunity then comes to move Pilkington back to his more accustomed wide berth. Pilkington has been doing reasonably well up-front, but his talents might well be needed elswhere this weekend.

Should Lex Immers start against Brighton?
YES
NO

Immers and Lawrence could actually be made for each other. Lawrence likes to drop deep and run at men, he has a real burst of pace too, whilst Immers is strong and could prove the perfect foil to the youngster.

It might just work, well, it seems very little has worked so far for Cardiff up-front this term so it most certainly is worth a try.

After all, Immers has a 100 per cent record with the Bluebirds, one start and one goal, now there’s not many at the club who can boast that.

Dear god!

Hmmm like you I was amazed after he was dropped to the bench when scoring on his debut!

This is exactly what shows RS failings and unfortunately he has supporters who are well versed on the Championship and our team, that's because we care and understand the game.

He will probably bring him back Saturday after Ameobie being suspended and he will score and RS will try and take the plaudits.

This is why I'm so glad Slade hasn't been given millions to spend

Explains why he hasn't been playing I suppose

What worries me is that Tan has said Slade does not need a play off spot to earn a new contract.

Tan has to take advice from a football specialist.

Div 1 teams and lower Championship teams would be about the right fit for Slade.

:sladeout: at the end of the season

He scored an open goal that was put on a plate so he should carry on starting? He hasn't offered enough yet. He looks rusty. Let him get to know the team more in training and I'm sure he'll come good

I don't think Slade had any say in his signing.

He was probably presented to Slade as a signing by the transfer "committee".

If a manager truly wants a player and asks the club to persue the player then the manager is usually keen to let the player have a decent run in the team. Slade does not seem to rate Immers and maybe not Zohore either.

Surely the whole point of signing players (especially loan players when under an embargo) is to sign players who are ready to go straight into the first team and improve it, not improve the quality of the bench!

If he's good then he will take no more than three games to get into the rhythm of the English league. I don't buy into this crap that players need half a season to get used to a new league, football is football. I think he needs no more than three games to settle in with new team mates and surroundings. Personally I think RS hasn't given the bloke enough minutes.

SLADE is clueless, Immers will score goals he needs to play

The answer is Tom Lawrence. Immers was pencilled in for the No. 10 role but we managed to get Lawrence at the end of the transfer window.

Only 11 can play and Slade prefers Lawrence. The issue here is why we haven't scored since that decision was made?

I don't think we have been starting with a proper striker and its showing by the lack of goals.

We loaned the guy with the cool name in for the development squad

Give Macheda a go

Immers has the fortunate knack of scoring goals which Lawrence does not have in his game.

Lawrence more a provider but we really don't have anyone who can regularly put the ball in the net.

It's not crap, it's a fact that different leagues in different countries have different play styles; anybody professionally involved in football would tell you that.

It's funny but the only Pros who say that are the ones who went abroad and failed, it's a weak excuse. Each team within the same league have different playing styles ffs. Give him time to adapt to his new surroundings and team mates but it shouldn't take more than three games and a number of weeks in training.

Slade needs to give him some starts, if he's shit drop him to bench.

If your going to spend money and effort to sign someone then unless they arrive unfit (questions about that!) they should get at least three games to prove themselves. Anything else means your transfer strategy is flawed.

Slades a clown. :sladeout: :sladeout:
