Cardiff City have no intention of making Craig Bellamy their next manager when Russell Slade departs
Monday 15th Feb 2016
There had been hopes among supporters that home-town hero Bellamy might be the man set to take over if Slade leaves in the summer
Craig Bellamy will not be approached to become new Cardiff City manager even if current boss Russell Slade is shown the door in the summer, WalesOnline has learned
Speculation is mounting over the future of Slade in the Welsh capital with his contract up at the end of the season and no discussions set to take place about a potential new one until the Bluebirds’ Championship fate this term is decided.
There had been hopes among supporters that home-town hero Bellamy might be the man set to take over, with the 36-year-old having already claimed he turned down the chance to manage Cardiff after being approached by owner Vincent Tan previously.
Bellamy is wildly popular amongst fans, having made 91 appearances for the Bluebirds over two spells and helping the club to Premier League promotion.
He retired from football after that season in the top-flight in 2014 and has since taken his coaching badges and worked coaching youngsters at Cardiff.
Bellamy has admitted a desire to move into management and has been linked with the Bluebirds, but sources at the club confirmed it is felt the time is not yet right for him to take the helm in the Welsh capital.
Despite the links, no move currently have been made to woo Bellamy and if Slade does go in the summer, Bellamy will not be drafted in as his replacement.
Slade himself, who currently sees his side five points off the Championship play-off places, recently admitted his desire to remain in charge at Cardiff next season.

Related: Vincent Tan asked Cardiff City to shoot 30 or 40 times a game... so how many attempts were there at Charlton?
But despite lavishing praise on his manager on a visit to Cardiff last week, billionaire-backer Tan fell short of confirming if Slade would be offered a new deal.
There will be talks with Slade nearer the end of the campaign, but Tan has since revealed that despite a top-six finish helping Slade’s position in those negotiations, a play-off place was not necessarily a requirement when it came to the current boss keeping his job.

That's if he does stay.

could be a bad move for both parties if he came. Cardiff would be appointing someone with zero managerial experience, and Bellamy would have virtually no money available for new players without selling first. Having said that, I take everything in the papers with a pinch of salt.

There is that lack of experience but give him experience by giving him the job but it can go all pear shaped and keeping Slade is the safer bet.

mostly hilarious
Can't believe city would stoop so low as to hire somebody who's only been experienced at a level one league lower than ours...
Let's bring in this guy with zero managerial experience! He seems like a great shout! he played for us for a while so obviously we'll be in the champions league by 2018

Maybe Tan has got used to having a nodding dog yes man in charge who's happy to bend over whenever Tan wants him to.
Doubt if Bellamy would be quite as willing to do what he's told.

I see what you're saying but I can't see Tan ever leaving a manager to get on with things to the extent he did with Malky and Ole and perhaps that's no bad thing.
What Tan needs to find is the right balance between allowing the manager to manage and keeping a close eye on the club's financial position.
Not easy mind.

No not easy and unfortunately more and more foreign owners interfering in footballing matters. Just because they put the money into club. But hopefully tan as learned some sort lesson and does get it right.

I don't believe anything that FailsOnline publish. Only a few weeks back, Hobo Tucker did that 'Samston' high court piece suggesting we could be going into administration. They've never got behind their local club and this was yet another fine example of lazy sensationalism when we are all trying to pull together. And they wonder why their readership continues to steadily decline? Tossers.

Hopefully it's just more lazy journalism.

The administration piece was gutter journalism for me Rydog, completey untrue and a cheap shot at attracting some eyeballs by attempting to unsettle fans. Tucker then tried to explain the article as the egg dried on his face, which I imagine he still hasn't washed off.

Tbh I like Tucker when I watch him on Blakeys bootroom and yes he does come up with shit and I take some of his articles with a pinch of salt the administration one was a classic.
