Joshua's Promoter Eddie Hearn has announced his Fighter will Fight for The IBF belt against Current champion Charles Martin in April.
Personally I think it's a mistake and a big big step to far.
He is nowhere near world level and this could damage his career.

No where near world level based on what tho

I think he needs this kind of test, his last fight was a step up but this is the level he needs to be tested at. Can't wait.

Should be a good fight, the guys 15 & 0 with 15 knockouts this will be a trust test of where he's at can't wait

A true test even lol

Is he?
I thought he was 23-0-1 with 20/21 knock outs... Could be wrong tho?

Sorry my bad thought you were talking about Martins record

Think your right about Martin's record mind

Watched Martin a few times , he is a slow jabber of a boxer who explodes with one or two unorthodox shots. He has a lot of power but like joshua has not really been tested at the top level. It will be his first defence of the title and his first fight abroad.
Joshua will be too quick and powerful for him and will win in rounds 2/4

Will be a very interesting fight, whoever lands 1st could get the ko looking at their ratios
Mon Feb 15, 2016 9:48 pm
I think aj will win this with ease
Martin was ranked 43rd by boxrec before he won the belt and he won it after the previous champion twisted his knee and had to give up.
It's the ibf aswell so not the main belt but either way a good opportunity for Johnson

But he isn't anywhere near world level.
He hasn't completed his domestic and European targets yet.
Becoming IBF champion puts him in the ring with Klit,Furt and Wilder also Povetkin and other names.
He isn't at that level yet and could damage his career and himself.

they arent going to put him in with those yet dont be silly.
This guy hes fighting is a good test imo for where joshua is right now. No point in him beating the stuffing out of average fighters any more.
Martin himself has had what? one decent fight against one half decent opponent, a guy who is tiny compared to joshua.

Thought the o.p. was talking about Adam Johnson

Im sure there are plenty of options. Within the top 10 of the belts rankings... or other belts rankings. He doesnt need to go from this striaght to the very top.
This fight makes sense to me. He cant keep knocking out average fighters for the next few years

Agree he needs the next level.
But world title isn't that level.
As soon as he becomes an alphabet belt holder the other holders will target him for a big pay day.
You say top ten fighters but who in general ?

Id have to look into it but each federation have their own top 10 so doesnt have to be this list automatically. Im sure there are good level fighters out there.

Someone like stiverne, arreola or even tarver. That would be a good fight. Stiverne especially is a lot smaller than joshua
