" RUSSELL SLADES NOT HAPPY "

Sat Feb 13, 2016 6:38 pm

My Opinion, You make your own luck, Ref was poor for both teams today and we played the worst team in the League, Not good enough by us.

RUSSELL SLADE SAID WE WERE HARD DONE BY TODAY

Saturday 13th Feb 2016

Cardiff were unlucky not to score after hitting the woodwork twice and drawing a number of fine saves from Charlton goalkeeper Stephen Henderson.

And Slade was particularly disappointed that Pilkington's effort was ruled out after a tight offside call.

“We’ve looked at the DVD and Pilkington, you can see the cut of the grass, Pilkington is onside when he scored," Slade said.

"It’s the second week running.

“When you engineer a perfectly good goal and it’s ruled offside, its doubly disappointing.

“We’ll still keep fighting, we’ll keep pushing on, we played some good football, we just didn’t have that final ruthless streak."

Not good enough though why play with two attacking Midfielders up front when he could've given Zohore a try.

I can't understand how anyone can be disappointed with our performance today. It's not Slade's fault goals have been taken out of our team by those above him not managing our clubs finances properly.

Tonteg, I've got to say fair play to you. You have stuck by Slade and defended him time after time when a lot of us have doubted him. I didn't always agree with you, but always good to see someone stick to what they say.

I've criticised Slade since the early days of his reign but did anyone really expect us to be within touch of the play-offs towards the end of February with him in charge and the cut-backs? I know I didn't. He deserves credit for that, a lot of players have gone for business decisions and I'm sure he would have liked to have kept those players.

I still don't think he's the man to take us up, and I don't think many of us expect him to be with us next season. But he has done a good job under the circumstances. I've said it this weekend that if he goes in the summer, I think he'll come out of it looking better than the club.

As for today, you can't blame Slade. I don't think they're excuses, ironic that Rydog should say that given how he's done the biggest u-turn ever known in six months, Slade is just being honest. He knows we need a proven goalscorer but that was extremely difficult with the transfer restrictions we had.

We played well today, but couldn't get the goals. I think it's harsh to blame that on Slade, given our performance.

Thank you Worcester, I've always stuck up for Slade because I knew what he was up against from the beginning. I don't think some of us appreciated the restrictions he had to work under until recently. It was good to see Slade getting appreciated lately.

I try my best to be honest, fair, balanced and most importantly, give everyone a fair chance. To give anyone a fair chance, you need to give them time. This is Slade's first full season at our club, but I can't really say he's had any FAIR time, because of all the restrictions he's had to work under. He hasn't been given a penny to spend this season, players he's wanted to bring in he hasn't been allowed to.

Like you say, the Rydog's of the world will want Slade sacked when we lose, but say he's the best manager in the world when we win. If the officials didn't wrongfully disallow our goal today, the majority of this forum would be happy, optimistic and supporting Slade. Because the goal was disallowed and we only drew, everyone is saying today wasn't good enough, despite us dominating the game and hitting the woodwork twice.

Like I said, what more can Slade (or any other manager) do when goals are being taken away from our club from those above him selling players? Kenwyne Jones and Joe Mason have been offloaded and the one striker Slade wanted to bring in to replace them was Tony Watt. It's hardly fair on Slade is it, yet everyone is shouting 'Slade Out!' when we fail to score the winning goal our play merited today.

You've done a very good post and I do agree Slade isn't the best manager in the world. I disagree with his persistence with 4-4-2. When he set us up playing 4-4-2 away to Hull, I criticised him, I think we all knew before kick off we were going to lose when he set us up like that. I question some of his selections and substitutions just like everyone else, but like you say, Slade still has us challenging for the playoffs, despite the majority of us trying to make things as hard as possible for him with all our negativity.

In our current position, I honestly think Slade is the best we are going to get at the moment, so we all have to support him. We could do a lot, lot worse. So called bigger named, 'better' managers have taken clubs down to League 1 with a lot more resources at their disposal than Slade. The trouble is our fans have been spoilt over recent years. I think the majority of us think that because we are Cardiff City, we have the right to expect a minimum of a playoff finish.

Derby have spent around 25 million this season and lost home to MK Dons 1-0 today. Burnley have Joey Barton on probably obscene wages and signed Andre Gray for 8-9 million. Sheffield Wednesday have signed Aiden McGeady on loan. Pretty much all the teams challenging for the playoffs have strengthened while Slade is expected to make continual cut backs, yet the majority of our fan base are still happy to slate Slade when we fail to win and slip a little bit further away from the playoffs. Even teams below us like Reading paid a 2 million pound loan fee for Vydra.

All things considered, I think Slade has done an unbelievable job to get us where we are. I just wish our demanding, unrealistic fan base would realise what Slade has been up against and try to at least make an effort to get behind him. Our continual negativity is no help at all.

Hey guys I'm not denying Slade is doing a good job but he can be really frustrating at times why have 2 players that not strikers upfront and going back to 442 when we played 4231 and it worked a treat and he moans about why we are not scoring its really frustrating.

Was you saying that after we scored 3 goals at Huddersfield with Pilkington and Immers up front? If you watch the highlights, you will see Pilkington had another good game and was involved with the majority of our chances.

I also believe we played 4-2-3-1 yesterday with Tom Lawrence in the number 10 role behind Pilkington.

Yes we did looking back on the highlights but Pilkington is not a striker is he?
