' NO MORE EXCUSES CARDIFF CITY FANS PLEASE '

Like myself, there were many City fans calling for Vincent Tan to turn the debt into equity, today's announcement hasn't made the club debt free overnight but it has gone a lot further than many expected.

We knew there was an announcement coming, and debt to equity was what we expected but I didn't think it would be at the level that it has been stated will be converted.

The debt to equity is happening, the rebrand has been reversed (should never have happened in the first place) and we are now back in blue, the bluebird is the prominent symbol on our badge and the debt to the club has fallen dramatically based on today's news.

Now surely that means that those who have called for Tan to turn his debt into equity will return and support the team.

I don't expect nor predict that we will have crowds of 27,000+ like we did a couple of seasons ago, as we are not playing the Man Utd's and Liverpool's of this world but surely 18,000+ fans is a realistic attendance we can expect to see supporting the team at home games.

One by one the reasons fans have given as to why they don't attend are being dealt with and whether or not fans like the manager the fact is we ARE challenging for the play offs.

So why not get behind the team and give them the support that they need to see where it takes us.

The debt to equity issue has been a major factor that many fans, including myself, have been negative towards Vincent Tan and his running of the club but today's news should be welcomed as a positive.

Is 18,000+ fans realistic for a Capital City club challenging for promotion to the biggest league of all, I think it is, do you ?

Ryan, I don't expect fans to just forget what has gone on in the past as it never should have happened but today's news must surely be seen by anybody with just a passing interest in CCFC as positive news.

Hopefully the club will be debt free and now we have exact timelines that we are told that will happen.

There is a five year plan.

The team needs the support and as supporters I hope those who were there through the good times return to do just that, support.

Tbh I think a lot of fans make excuses, return to blue, debt to equity ect etc. I don't believe many fans stayed away because he didn't do debt to equity, a hand full maybe.

Reducing prices and getting a manager who people identify with and a team they enjoy watching again would get people back. People pay money to enjoy themselves.

Good post and totally agree. We need to get behind the club and that includes slade, whatever people think about him were still in for a chance of play offs and the team need us behind them.

Brilliant news from Tan, today, let's hope the fans get behind the team at Charlton Saturday as an acknowledgment of his support of the club. It would be nice, to see you now get behind Tan and the club to, Annis. No excuses to hate the guy now. Rebrand reversed, debt to equity going ahead

Couldn't agree more, my personal opinion is we needed to go back to go forward and in time we will do. Today can only have a positive effect on the players and am hoping for some positive results and a sell out against the worzzels that will ignite our season. We must get the hardcore back, there are thousands of them. The glory hunters will come and go like at every club and I ain't got a problem with them.

Let's finish on s high this season and get some cheap season tickets for kids next year and a fresh new manager (bellers) to start the steps forward

A lot have just had enough, plain and simple. Moved on, do other things now. They will be the hardest to get to return and I know loads like this. Maybe it's time to attract new fans? Let's face it Cardiff and the surrounding area has a huge untapped population. I'm sure the old lot will pop back for big games but that's the way it is around here.

Yes I agree I fear a lot of fans are gone for good. No matter what happens down the city, a lot I know from my area will never return, because we became a laughing stock, like annis said though in so many words thick and thin support the boys and make some noise.... The people who walked away walked too easy in my eyes and that's poor support.

Great thread.
Agree with virtually everything written.

Too late for many now.

Now I understand the old guys n the pubs around Cardiff I would see on match days when we had 3000 at NP.
They would straighten up and say
'I never set foot in that place after the sold

Life is too short for grudges and hate and I can I
Think that it is open and honest to both dismay at a managers tactics and team selection while cheer and chant out
Loud in support of the match day squad.

Some maybe can't do this and only want to grizzle out loud
Or give up and recoil at a time when a test of will and strength is required
I can't judge them

Nowt as queer as folk

Yesterday someone complained that Tan hadn't kept his promise to build a training ground  . Another poster complained because he HAD built and extension to the Ninian Stand i.e. kept a promise :? .

Unfortunately there are some terminally negative fans whose whole function is to find fault and will grab at any negative straw to beat up Tan.

I agree with Annis that as fans we have an opinion if we think an owner, manager or player is not pulling his weight and it is only right to voice that.

However, I can’t agree with those who constantly slag off Tan and have a lifelong hatred of him because of past mistakes. He kept his word and converted debt to equity even though the rebrand was abandoned. Personally I feel safe with him in charge, much more than other previous owners who played Russian roulette with our very existence.

We now have a second chance we should take it and do our bit by turning up every week and making ourselves heard in every sense of the word.

When you see the likes if Bolton almost going to the wall, as much as Vincent Tan is different from most of us in his approach I think we should be grateful that we are where we are!

Yes he has said some daft things and has a strange way of making statements but unlike any of the previous owners he is putting substantial amounts of money into the club, I think every fan should fully appreciate that.

I think we should all try to understand that out of the three managers he has had Malky and Ole pissed a shed-full of money against the wall, and I think he feels he was betrayed by them, and I know Slade has not been given any money but he has stabilised the club and with a little bit of luck could still sneak into the playoffs.

The whole club has had a rocky couple of seasons but I do think we are starting to go on the right lines there are three things that we should all recognise
1. We are back in Blue
2. The club,s debt is now being reduced
3. We are now playing some good football.

MY GLASS IS DEFINITELY MORE THAN HALF FULL. :bluescarf: :bluebird:

I for one would like to see people return to the fold as you say Carl there are no excuses

Great post. No-one can deny that Tan hasn't shot himself in the foot before now and your right to point that out. But we have to accept him for what he is a very generous if some what eccentric man.

In my dreams I have us sneeking into the play-offs winning at Wembley, waving at the Jacks as they go the other way and Wales do something very special this summer at the Euros. :D
