Cardiff City Team News

Cardiff will be without Craig Noone for the next couple of weeks due to an hairline crack in the wingers ribs.

The Bluebirds will also be without Sean Morrison who remains out with a knee injury, although he has returned to light training this week.

Idriss Saadi missed out on a development team fixture he was set to play in this week due to the game being postponed so it is unclear whether he will be brought in for this game, there is a strong possibility he could start from the bench. Tom Lawrence is expected to start after an impressive début last week and Lex Immer could return to the lien-up to replicate the performance of the Bluebirds win at Huddersfield a fortnight ago.

Charlton face an anxious wait over the fitness of Igor Vetokele ahead of their crucial Championship match against Cardiff on Saturday, News Shopper understands.

The Angolan striker, who has a history with injury problems, missed last week’s home defeat to Bristol City with a hamstring strain.

Charlton boss Jose Riga hoped the 23-year-old would be fit for the Cardiff fixture, saying: “Based on the last week’s result [4-1 win at Rotherham], he’s important to the team.

“Him and Simon [Makienok] complement each other.”

However, News Shopper understands that Vetokele has a 50-50 chance of playing against the Bluebirds at the Valley.

The club will wait to see how he holds up come the weekend, and would certainly expect the forward to feature against Fulham if he is ruled out this week.

Following the damaging defeat to Bristol City, Charlton are bottom of the Championship and four points adrift off safety.

Cardiff are five points off a play-off position having lost just one of their last seven league games.

Meanwhile, French midfielder Alou Diarra is nearing a return following a lengthy spell out injured.

The 34-year-old has not featured for the Addicks since December 26 but a much-needed return could be a matter of weeks away.
