Are the club trying to get back the absent fans?

Wed Feb 10, 2016 9:03 pm

Had a phone call from the club today wanting to know why I have not gone to a game for two months having been a season ticket holder for most of the last 42 years despite moving away in 1996. Anyway gave the caller some candid feedback, he said all the points would be made to the management team, any other absent fans had a call?

For the record, my main points were soulless match day experience, lack of incentive to travel 250 miles for mid week games with the quality on offer suggesting Saturday only season tickets for remote fans, and most importantly a statement directly from Tan on his plans for the club.

Saturday only season tickets is a great idea although they would have to include Friday games that are moved for TV.

From a personal point of view a sat only would not make a difference but what a great idea a sat only is. What about a deal with a set amount of games for those who can't attend every game. So block of maybe 15 games they would get a discount and can use it when it suits the busy commitments people now have.

I like your idea of "Saturday" only season tickets. I don't live as far away as you but I work permanent afternoons, so ca'nt make mid week games either.

They certainly need to be more dynamic. I know when iv'e been to America I have seen NBA and MLB 5 match bundle tickets available. Obviously they play around 40 home games a season but we play 23 so it's not far off.

Agree 100% - I would love the chance to buy a Saturday only season ticket as I work in Bristol and trying to get back in time for a Tuesday night kick off is a nightmare so end up not going, missing those game is also putting me off renewing!

I don't understand the advantage of a Saturday only season ticket. Why not just get a membership instead? That way you pick and choose your games, and miss out the midweek fixtures. Its not like games are going to be sold out.

Sorry I just don't see why the club would bother doing this, as there is already an alternative in place.

I guess they mean all Saturday games at a reduced price like a season ticket would be. Match day tickets + membership would be more expensive. Its understandable as a lot of people cant make night games and it doesn't make a season ticket worthwhile.

Issue the club would have is games get moved all the time so would be pretty hard to price as they wouldn't know how many games would be a Saturday.

Its good the club are calling but better off phoning around once the season ticket prices are released.
