Cardiff loan man unlikely to stay longer at Crewe Alex

Manager Steve Davis is confident homegrown centre-halves will be fit soon

Semi Ajayi’s loan spell at Crewe Alex is unlikely to be extended past the end of this month.

The 22-year-old joined Crewe on loan from Championship side Cardiff City in November as cover for injured defensive duo George Ray and Harry Davis and has impressed in his 10-game spell.

He has formed a strong partnership with Ben Nugent at the heart of the Alex back line in the past four games but, with Ray and Davis both edging closer to a return to first-team action, Ajayi’s Gresty Road stay is unlikely to extend into March.

Davis said: “We’ve got Semi until the end of the month so I think that should cover the time before Harry and George are back.

“I think we will be ok on that one.”

Can't see him getting in our first team this season, a pity he could not stay with them till May for experience
