SLADE IF WE ARE PROMOTED?

Wed Feb 03, 2016 8:55 pm

I really cant see slade getting us promoted to be honest even though we have enough quality in the side now to get in the play offs and win them, i just dont see slade as capable of doing it..

But if he did end up doing it would you be happy for him to be offered a new contract in the premier league? Or would you think hes incapable of keeping us there and just say thank you and do what watford done and take a new manager on someone like bellamy as manager and dutch ray assistant or vice versa like people have mentioned on here recently..

Even though it would be harsh on slade i just think with the 2 men above mentioned in charge would re ignite the fire of the club, bring back the fans and bring a possible very bright future. Slade will always have fans on his back and i think even in the premiership after a few bad results he alone would drive crowds down and fans would be on his back then, hes very limited as we have seen this season so if he preformed a miracle and got us promoted he would be too limited in the prem imo, or would he proove people wrong and keep us up there then!?

A lot of ifs and buts but what are peoples opinions on this???

If Slade got us promoted he deserves a new contract.

No I would change manager still I would rather us get a manager with good Prem experience to give us a fighting chance of staying up.
Don't think we will get promoted anyway though but if we did I think we would finish bottom if Slade is still in charge

Slade isn't good enough for the Premier League, in every single area. Tactically he'd be chewed apart, he can't manage squad rotation in any sensible manner, and his transfer dealings are absolute shockers making the thought of him having a transfer war chest a terrifying prospect.

We had our season in the sun, and yes I think we can all admit that it ended up a failure on pretty much all fronts (although we had some classic matches that will be remembered for years, I think). If we go up again, we really need to give it everything we've got to establish ourselves in that league. It's more important to me that Cardiff City establish itself as a Premier League team, rather than sticking with a manager clearly out of his depth, just out of some sort of misled loyalty were he to get us promoted somehow.

We would need to do a Watford, basically!

Because he got us up and would deserve to be given a chance to see what he can do hes never been relegated as a manager. ;)

You think that if Slade takes us up, we should risk our Premiership survival and financial stability by letting him manage us just because he got us out of the Championship? That's crazy - the guy clearly wouldn't stand a chance at that level, and would be a failed experiment that would risk our future.

People said we would get relegated with him this season to, although I think we got more chance of finding rocking horse shit than us getting promoted this season.

Look at history, it tells you the step up is too steep for managers, Slade will never of worked with the callibre of player needed to stay up.

If Tan sacked Malky the minute he got the club promoted, his money would of been invested properly if Tan ever had an ingenious plan to have a quality manager at the club.

I have no doubts though Slade will stay, Tan will buy the players and we would be relegated. Good morning everyone :laughing6:

personally i would be more inclined to give him a new contract if we didnt go up, though i wouldnt be against him staying here fully.

Only have to look at the premiership this season to see you dont have to spend a fortune, you dont have to have a pedigree at premier league level, one of the most important things is that the manager has all the players pulling in the right direction - something Slade certainly has here at the moment.

No we`d need an experienced manager but Slade would move upstairs as he would deserve that for a season

If it does happen though itll be short of a miracle

No replace him instantly and let a new manager get his players in. Let's learn from last time we got promoted and get an experienced manager.

When Malky got us promoted for the first time in 51 years, he was understandably considered our best manager for over 50 years.
If Russell Slade did get us promoted, without Malky's war chest then surely that would make Slade the best manager in the last 50 years or more.

Especially if he does it with having to sort out the mess and overspending of previous managers, the transfer embargo and large percentage of our fans being extremely vocal and vociferous towards him.

I am NOT saying he is a great manager, but he is a very solid manager who has done much ofthe dirty work that was expected from him.

We're into the start of the run in and the more we actually support our team and Slade the greater chance we have of getting into the playoffs and possibly succeeding.

Regarding a new contract, then football management is a brutal business.

I would say that he would get many offers elsewhere in the Championship and he would do the right thing, for him in taken one of them.

I would not offer a new contract as we would have to hit the ground running as well as we could.

A significant number of our player would need to go.

We have the players and hopefully the manager to possibly get us promoted, but they are a totally different beast to staying up and thriving in the Premiership.
