Two people were arrested during the stand-off and police had to rush to separate the supporters to prevent trouble following the Capital One Cup match on Wednesday night
This is the moment police rush to separate Everton and Manchester City fans to prevent trouble after the match at the Etihad on Wednesday night.
Bottles can be seen flying from one set of supporters towards the other and the atmosphere appears tense as fans leave the stadium.
The clip also shows officers forming a line to prevent groups of supporters coming together, pushing the rival groups apart before trouble can flare.
Greater Manchester Police say no one was injured, two people were arrested during the stand-off and four other fans over the course of the day.
The film by Andrew Lowe, shows a major operation by officers, including some on horseback, to try and prevent trouble flaring between the rival sets of fans.
Dozens of messages appeared on social media after the match talking about unrest following City’s victory at the Capital One Cup semi-final tie.
Officers are understood to have wielded batons in a bid to separate fans after a small group of visiting supporters reportedly began throwing bottles and coins at people leaving the stadium.
At one stage a person on the recording can be heard to shout ‘police brutality’.
The Liverpool Echo report one Everton fan sustained a head injury and had to go to hospital on Wednesday evening.

A witness of the incident said: “Walking past the police, he never said anything to them and got hit in the head whilst others were walking past.
“He was on the floor and other Everton fans helped him up.”
Chief Superintendent Chris Sykes, match commander, added: “There was some disorder outside the ground following the conclusion of the Manchester City v Everton match last night. Officers policing the game reacted quickly to calm situation and the crowds dispersed.
“However I would like to say that the majority of supporters were well behaved in a good spirited manner throughout what turned out to be a very entertaining game.”
It’s believed the arrests were on suspicion of public disorder and drink related offences.
Speaking to the M.E.N. after the game a GMP spokesman said officers used the ‘routine’ tactic of brandishing batons to ‘create a visual deterrent’ and stem violence.
He also confirmed disturbances and there have been some reports of bottles being thrown.
According to the Liverpool Echo, serious trouble caught on camera by the Daily Mirror as both Manchester City and Everton fans were caught up in running battles after the match at the Etihad Stadium. Fans fought running battles and hurled traffic cones and bottles at each other, as most of the 9,000 Everton fans moved out of the area. According to the Daily Mirror, the Greater Manchester Police were caught out with the volume of away support.
Apparently a disabled Everton fan was abused by some Man City fans, and this sparked the trouble off outside the ground. Also some fans had been drinking heavily apparently.
You would have thought the Police may have noticed how many away fans there were in the ground ?
