' CCFC TEAM THIS SATURDAY ? '

This is the team I believe Russell Slade will pick on Saturday, not necessarily the side I would like to see or choose but going on previous selections I think this will be the line up.

Marshall
Peltier
Connolly
Manga
Malone
Whittingham
Ralls
O'Keefe
Ameobi
Lawrence
Pilkington

I believe Slade will go for his preferred right back Lee Peltier, who returns after suspension, and Malone seems to be his choice of left back.

The midfield is where I see no change from the win against Huddersfield.

With Mason sold and Lex Immers not having a fantastic game at the John Smiths Stadium, despite scoring, I sense that the manager will bring in new signing Tom Lawrence and partner Anthony Pilkington up top.

Subs :

Moore
Fabio
Dikgacoi
Immers
Saadi

I see four of these five being certainties on the bench and the remaining two/three spaces will be very much dependant on whether or not they have recovered from injury. Saadi is the one I am doubtful about making the bench despite his tweets yesterday.

If fit then I see Morrison and Noone making the match day squad.

The centre half will be Slades biggest cause for concern if Morrison is not deemed fit to take his place, then I suspect Adedeji Oshilaja will claim a sub spot.

If Noone is not fit then Kadeem Harris may keep his place in the squad.

Will Kenneth Zohore feature at all in the squad ?

If Zohore doesn't feature in our match day squads then questions have to be asked as to way we did what we did to get him here.

It would be a pointless loan if this was to happen.

I probably agree with you except I believe Lawrence will start on the bench. Fabio should always start at home. He gives you energy , desire and impetus and gets us going forward and the backing of the support. Gunner will defo be on the bench at least. I would start him instead of okeefe.
I assume you think Noone us injured. He would always start before Ameobi for me.

Knowing Slade's mindset,I would expect an unchanged side

Peltier playing in both positions?

Or maybe he can take one of the two sub places you haven't used?

4-2-3-1
Slade will most likely stick to the formation that has revived his tenure, bringing 7 points from 9 since Tony Watt’s injury meant he had to abandon his favoured 4-4-2 before the 3-1 win at Wolves.

However, the two new arrivals mean he will some big calls to make, especially if Craig Noone is available for selection.

First and foremost, if he picks Lawrence in an advanced position, what does that mean for Whittingham and Pilkington?

Those two have combined superbly of late, with Whittingham enyoing the extra time and space on the left to unload some dreamy passes for the born again Pilkington.

On the same note, will the arrival of Zohore mean the Pilkington experiment is abandoned?

It would perhaps make more sense to use Pilkington’s golden run of form to give Zohore the chance to settle into his new environment and get to grips with the pace of the Championship.

4-4-2
Of course, the arrival of another two forward men may mean that Slade feels he can return to the system he appears most comfortable with.

How he would strike the right balance, however, is a much more difficult question.

Playing two strikers would surely mean a starting berth for Zohore, but who would partner him?

Pilkington, Immers and Lawrence would all be contenders, but none of them can be considered natural strikers.

It would also leave the manager with a difficult balancing act in midfield.

Has Whittingham got the engine to play as part of a pair in the middle of the park? His poor form earlier in the season means it would be a big gamble.

If Lawrence was not picked to play up front, would that mean pushing him out to the wings? Would that suit his strengths?

These are all tough dilemmas for Slade to work his way through, but given how bleak the situation looked when the embargo was imposed, he will be thrilled to have the opportunity to make them.

I expect the same team starting with the new arrivals and Saadi on the bench possibly. :ayatollah:

Sadly, I see Fabio dropped, 4-4-2
brought back, Ameobi sub with Lawrence pushed out on the wing.....

I think your starting 11 will be the one that is picked Carl.

Personally I'd have the bench as Moore, Fabio, Gunnarsson, Noone, Lawrence, Macheda, Zohore.

Not sure what Slade will go for on the bench but, as someone who has criticised him all season for not having any squad depth, it is good to see us debating about who will and who won't be in the match day squad :thumbright:

Wow!!! That's a attack minded bench no wonder we leak goals if people think like Worcester. Shocking.

I know the great adage of never changing a winning side and Slade being the cautious manager that he is will probley select the same side, but I would be tempted to try something outrageous, like having two natural strikers leading the attack,I'm not advocating leaving out the present incumbents from the side, they could be relocated to their natural playing positions, another outrageous suggesting perhaps for Slade to consider

Just to play devils adovcate...

It is an attacking bench but it does still offer defensive cover in fairness. In the past Gunnarson has payed at right back (and done well if I recall although it was a good few seasons back). Peltier has played centre back for both Leeds and Huddersfield I think and is solid enough to cover there if needed as an emergency and Fabio can cover both full back positions too.

So we would need to have both central defenders injured to put us in a position where we would be playing someone in a role they have never played before (which would be pretty unfortunate.) and the bench Worcester offers does give us opportunities to change the game potentially?

Ah now Angelis you can't blame him for not keeping track on what you've moaned about in the past.

There is so much that upsets you about CCFC it's just easier to assume you've complained about any given topic at some point and in doing so accept that 9 out of 10 times that'll be correct.

Its far more efficient to play the law of averages like this than go trawling back through all your posts which would not only be time consuming but also make for pretty bleak reading.

Far from stupid ealing, an astute and subtle post that exposes the miserable, negative poster that this old man is.
The funny thing is you're only stating what the vast majority of fans already know.
