New look city side...

Mon Feb 01, 2016 6:23 pm

Marshall

Peltier Manga Connolly Malone

Noone Gunnarson Immers Lawrence

Zahore Saadi

Now that side to me looks like a side full of promise and quality.
I know its not realistic and slade wont go with that but to me just shows our options going forward and things look positive for us now. Pilks whitts and okeefe who have done well recently also to think about, now its over to slade to manage and get the best out of this squad of players, no excuses now from slade we have the quality to make play offs now, thing is i dont think slade is good enough to do it but hope he proves me wrong...

I would like to see Immers play CM he did in Holland I'm not sure about Lawrence on the wing he is a number 10.

No he didn't, Immers played the number 10 role of a 4-2-3-1 system in Holland.

Lawrence can play up front or anywhere just behind the striker or on the wings, so he's a good option to have with his versatility. Saying that, Ameobi can also play those roles and Ameobi doesn't deserve to be dropped after his performance at Huddersfield.

Great to have some new options we were previously lacking though.

I thought Immers could play like a box to box CM and chip in with a few goals my mistake Holland don't do 442 and agree about these options it gives us strength in depth now. :thumbright: :ayatollah:

I could be wrong but I think Immers is more comfortable in the number 10 role than as a centre midfielder. I suppose he does enough tracking back anyway, so you could class him as a centre midfielder.

Loved the way he ghosted into the back post unmarked to tuck his goal away. It was a tap in but some players have the off the ball movement and intelligence to pick up dangerous positions and it seems Immers is one of them.

Immers has lots of energy so i don't see why not he could play CM and he is intelligent he could be the dutch Kevin Nolan. :ayatollah:

Immers has played as a 9 or a 10 for his previous clubs in Holland.

Lawrence is a 9 or 10 also but was used on the wing at Blackburn. We have good options now up top. :bluescarf:

Did we really play 4411 on Saturday or was in 4231 ?

Whitts looked like he was playing his old inside left (right) role from the DJ era, Immers centre and Ameobi right. I never went so over to those who went.

Keep Pilks up front, he's been v good.

Lawrence/Immers/Saadi behind with Whitts and Noone wide. Gunner and Ralls centre with O'Keefe/Digacoi keeping them on their toes. Actually wouldn't drop O'Keefe at the moment though.

Defence is decent anyway.

It's not a bad side, particularly if the other new striker is decent too.

Much younger and hungrier side than earlier in the season. It could all go pear shaped but I feel a hint of optimism!
