Club confirm Lawrence signing

Here’s confirmation of Lawrence’s arrival. He’ll wear the number 37 shirt. :ayatollah:

Cardiff City have signed Wales forward Tom Lawrence on loan from Leicester City until the end of the season. :ayatollah:

The 22-year-old recently finished a loan spell with Championship side Blackburn Rovers.

Other Championship clubs are thought to be interested in the former Manchester United player.

Cardiff, who are only able to sign players on loan due to a transfer embargo, have also signed striker Kenneth Zohore from KV Kortrijk.

Wrexham-born Lawrence is a strong contender to be included in Wales' Euro 2016 squad.

He won his first cap against Andorra in their last qualifying match and made his first start in the friendly against the Netherlands - both games at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Tom Lawrence HAS signed until the end of the season

Tom Lawrence leaves Blackburn Rovers to join Championship rivals Cardiff City

Striker Lawrence scored two goals in 23 appearances for Rovers.

Lawrence is offically a Leicester City player.

Lancashire Telegraph:

Monday 1st Feb 2016

STRIKER Tom Lawrence has left Blackburn Rovers and is now expected to sign on loan for Championship rivals Cardiff City.

Rovers boss Paul Lambert confirmed after Saturday’s FA Cup fourth-round 3-0 win at Oxford United that Lawrence’s loan from Leicester City would not be extended.

At the start of the month Lambert had agreed a deal with the Premier League leaders for the Wales international to remain at Ewood Park for the rest of the season.

But, on the advice of his representatives, instead the 22-year-old’s initial loan was extended by a further four weeks.

It ran out yesterday and Lawrence, who came on as a second-half substitute against Oxford for goalscoring debutant Tony Watt, is now understood to be joining Cardiff.

Lambert said: “Tom is going back. As I said at the time it was always going to be a dangerous thing because his agent wanted this one-month thing. It was never going to work.

“Tom wants to exercise it, he’s got the Euros to think of, and he’s probably seen Tony come in and thought maybe that’s his chance gone.

“But credit to him for the way he played when he came on and he goes away with big thanks from ourselves because he gave us everything and that’s testament to himself.”

Lawrence scored two goals in 23 appearances for Rovers.

We are desperate for a striker he needs game time for euros so makes perfect sense

I just think with Euro's coming up, he's joining us looking to impress Coleman, so hopefully he'l get the goals to fire us on

I think we are desperate for a striker. If and when saadi comes back and he stays injury free we still don't know what he's capable of. That leaves macheda and pilkinton who have both spent a lot of times on the sidelines since they've joined us.
The boy should be hungry to impress trollope which can be good for him and us

Our club has lost Jones Mason and we have a player who needs to score for Euro squad

And yes I believe we are in need of a striker

The three we have are all injury prone

That has to be the thinking. Yes its working with Pilks at the moment but he is always one tackle away from the treatment table.

Just thinking now surely we have to let a striker go considering we have Saadi coming back to full fitness and with macheda pilks immers plus the two strikers coming in on loan?

well pilkington and immers arent really strikers and the two guys are, like you say, on loan.

I'd like macheda to leave personally but dont think he will

Wrong his advisors rejected an extension to his loan at Blackburn! Hence he's free to choose another club?

We have done well in this transfer window!
out has gone the expensive KWJ out as well as Joe Mason for out for £3M
and in comes Immers, Zahare and Lawrence, I think we are stronger for these changes and better off financially through them

A BIG WELL DONE CITY :bluescarf:

thats the positive of having a good squad though right. Things have been going ok so far so the new guys will be on the bench v mk dons i would assume

Lawrence would not get a look in at Blackburn now that they have signed Tony Watt, who is a proven goal scorer, so Lawrence did the sensible thing in moving to a team who will play him, as from one where he would be a bit part player :bluebird:

i wouldnt say that as yet. Hes scored more goals than Lawrence obviously, but i think they are about the same age and at the same place in their career really where they both need to settle somewhere and prove they are good enough for this level.

Agreed. This could be a good signing. Lawrence has got a point to prove to Trollope and Coleman. Just what we need a young, hungry WELSH striker. Good luck Tom.
