' The True Cost of Joe Mason to Wolves '

' How much Cardiff City will receive for Joe Mason '

The whole deal is costing Wolves approx £3.5mill for striker Joe Mason, including Masons signing on fee/package deal etc.

Wolves have initially paid £1.6mill to Cardiff, which Plymouth will get their %.

The rest of the payments will go on Masons appearances, promotion bonus etc which Plymouth with will continue to get their % as and when Cardiff City receive their payments from Wolves.

I read the other day that Argyle get 25%. That seems very high for a sell on clause.

We have made a good profit on a average player, plus a team who could probably also do with the cash has benefitted, yeh 25percent is quite high bit other players bought from league 1 and 2 have had that type of clause. We've made a profit for a change instead of a loss.

We signed a player who may or not have made it, we gambled with 250k and we won. Sell on clauses are included quite often on low fees.

The thing is, ordinarily I think it would have been good business but when you're somewhere in the region of £150m in debt to an owner who could at best be described as a loose cannon, a transfer fee of what will probably be worth less than £2m, seems a bit of an irrelevance.

As far as us fans go, is it really brilliant business? I mean we have one less decent championship striker at the club. That's it. We won't see any of the money, it's just a tiny dent in a massive debt. I suppose him going may free up wages for a loan player or two for three months but that's about it.

This is correct spoken to mason tonight it is 20% so near £700,000 he would like me to pass on his thanks for all the support you wonderful fans have given him since he has been here. Would like to say that he enjoyed his time at the city and loved played for Cardiff city. He didn't want to leave but basically Cardiff said the deals be agreed it was never up to the player if he wanted to stay as Cardiff needed the money. Same as when we sold Ramsay ir your going and that's it.

If he gets wolves promoted the club receive a bonus as you have stated. You watch he will score goals for fun and our fans be saying shouldn't have sold him or why didn't he do that for us. He's not an out and out striker he's a number 10 for me the club should have played him in that position more. Like they did when he played wolves. The club knew what they were doing that day he played a blinded.

Agree with this but then again we have been spoilt for the last decade with great players, it's time to tighten our belts.

Cheers Richard, Mason another player who was more than happy to stay at Cardiff City.

If we were not desperate for Strikers, Mason would not have been my No 1 Choice.

It's a good deal, but bad timing. We've a serious striker crisis until others are brought it. About time Kiko delivered....He can do it at this level, despite being lazy.

Of course he was happy to stay, we pay them a fortune......They are all happy to stay !!! He was paid four times more than the prime minister for being a squad player in a championship club....

I guess we are trying to freeze Macheda out of the club, but at least there is talent there. The madness of the Ole reign will soon be over and we will be counting the cost for a long long time.

We paid the same amount for Kadeem Harris and if we got £3m for him it would be great business!

Joe has stagnated at Cardiff. He needs the move as much as we need the cash. A good deal all round.

Its always the players faults, never the people who give them the contracts and years on we are always blaming the previous managers/owners and yet if I moan about something this present owners done, I'm told to move on, you could not make it up

Annis, hundreds of players at every club leave but are happy to stay put, it happens all the time christ, i remember kav (who was our captain at the time) being told he had to go and a helicopter arriving at the training ground to take him to wigan, kav left with tears in his eyes as hammam cleared the decks out. I think that the £3.5 million Cardiff got for mason is very good business for a very average player.i go down to watch Cardiff with my grandson who has been with the Cardiff academy for 3 years.it says it all when he says to me gramp he is crap.with no idea of the game and that has come from a 10 year old boy it says it all. but I wish him all the luck in the world.
