" CITY PLAYER SET TO LEAVE TODAY "

Thu Jan 28, 2016 10:37 am

This is what I know, because Mason never asked to go, City owe him all his bonuses(not his basic wages) etc up to when his contract finishes.
If he had asked to go then City would owe him nothing.
Yes Mason stands to make a lot of money out of both clubs, but then he was given a contract by City.
You can't blame Mason and that's what he has been sorting out with City.

Joe Mason set to depart the Bluebirds today!

Thursday 28th Jan 2016

Cardiff City are thought to have agreed a £3m fee with Wolves for Joe Mason – just a week after suggesting he was not for sale.

And it looks now down to the player whether to quit Cardiff City Stadium for their Championship rivals.

The Bluebirds had been keen to hold onto the 25-year-old Mason after seeing him as a key part of plans under boss Russell Slade. Although they had told Wolves they valued the forward at £5m, it is thought it had been suggested to the former Plymouth man there was no intention from the club to cash-in during this window – not least because the current transfer embargo means they would be unable to sign a permanent replacement.

But it is understood a deal in principle has been agreed by both Cardiff and Wolves with only personal terms standing in the way of Mason following Kenwyne Jones out of the club.

Annis, it's sad that he is going. Another one that was not played in his correct position as RS does not play his way.

If RS does leave and we get a decent Manager it will take a season to get players in who can play in his way and to knock out the old ways of the ones we have.

To me season 16/17 will be another waste :ayatollah:

These players don't care about our club, it's all self... Best game mason has had this season? Wolves away... Coincidence ?
Good luck to Joe, yes we offered him the contract, but I think his head has been else where of late, to me, that's letting down the fans of Cardiff.

Re: " CITY PLAYER SET TO LEAVE TODAY "

Thu Jan 28, 2016 11:06 am

If 3m is the price I cannot blame the club for accepting and wish Joe the best.

Personally I feel our season is already peateing out and a new manager should be brought in to assess the players left.and start plans for next season.

If the club are backing slade then give him a contract it feels there is an inevitably of how the season will go with Slades contract running down.

As I day I would get a new man in now to rebuild....

Once again Slade has just proven what an absolute prick he is
Mason has already proved that if he gets the right service he will get you goals
Slade won't play the youngsters either
We may aswell close the acadamy down whilst he is here because he won't even put them on the bench
God knows what players he has in mind to replace Mason
You can't get much on loan for ten grand a week
If that tw*t Slade is not gone by the end of the season I will get a petition up to get him out
I've been supporting the club for 63 years and to see such total ineptness by one man is unbelievable
How he ever became a manager I will never know
Any chance of being in the playoffs will be a distant memory if we get rid of any more first team players
Resign now Slade

He is slow, needs around six clear cut chances before he'll score one, can't trap a ball to save his life, and in my opinion is one of the least impressive strikers I have seen at this club. I doubt he will spend long in Wolves' first team. Barely up to Championship standard.

Wolves boss Kenny Jackett has said he is close to securing a £3m deal to land Cardiff City’s Joe Mason, admitting he is a long-time admirer of the striker.

The Bluebirds’ top-scorer this season is set to exit in the Welsh capital as early as today and link up with Cardiff’s Championship rivals Wanderers.

And Jackett said he was delighted to be finally about to land the 24-year-old who signed for Cardiff for just £250,000 from Plymouth in July 2011.

Joe Mason

Cardiff City breaking transfer news live: Mason set for Wolves move as Bluebirds continue to eye loan moves

“Are we in advanced talks? Yes we are,” confirmed Jackett.

“But we wouldn’t have necessarily announced anything until he’s signed because it still has some way to go.

“But yes there are discussions going on at the moment and we do hope to be able to close a deal."

He added: “We’ve looked at him for a while. He had a good loan spell at Bolton and he’s a natural number 10, he plays best just off a striker I think. Getting the right partnership in that area is a key one for us.

“And since Benik Afobe and Nouha Dicko have gone out of it for different reasons, it’s something we’re looking to obviously try to improve.”

Jackett, whose side are eight points off the play-offs currently, is keen to add to his striking options and sees Mason as part of that plan.

Mason, who was named Cardiff's Young Player of the Season in the 2012-13 season, has scored 25 goals for the Bluebirds in 109 appearances and his loss would leave a hole on Russell Slade’s squad with the Bluebirds boss having shown a lot of faith in the frontman this campaign.

Jackett said he knew he was poised to get a real asset and he was still looking for more players before the transfer window slams shut at 11pm on Monday.

“I like his work rate, I like his football. I think he’s a natural to play behind the striker in my ideal 4-2-3-1 formation,” added Jackett.

“In an ideal world we’d bring two striking options now and he’d be one of them.

“There are a number of deals we’re working on. We are hopeful of signing a player, or players plural, if we can.

“There’s a lot of work gone in and we hope that it bears fruition.”

Probably watched more than you have :ayatollah: but don't like arguing with children!

Mason is not out and out striker, he will play behind the main striker. Just watch him at Wolves.

Hope he doesn't score to many goals cause I will be on your case in some style :laughing5:

Still a good price for him :sladeout:

3 mil is good business, even more so when you read today that Pelle could be on his way to Leicester from Southampton for 4-5 mil

Even after we pay Plymouth and Mason his bonuses etc if we make 1m on it then its brilliant business. May even force Slade into some changes.

Re: " CITY PLAYER SET TO LEAVE TODAY "

No matter what your opinion on Mason's skill level, it's ludicrous to suggest he's shown he's worth anywhere near the £3million we're supposedly getting for him. We've got the best deal, no doubt.

Whether right now is the best time to be selling him since we're under a transfer embargo, is a whole different story...

True but you cant turn down an offer like this, would anyone offer this kind of money again? I don't think so.

What bonuses ? We don't pay him the club he goes to will pay him signing on fees etc we just have to pay Plymouth if there's a sell on Clause ,Plymouth fans seem to think there was no clause as they were in administration

I don't by large bonuses coz he didn't ask to go ,it's his decision if he signs or not seems strange

Im referring to the above article, I have no idea what we have to pay out but if we are left with even 1m its still brilliant business.
