Wolves confirm they are close to signing Joe Mason and Cardiff have agreed a fee. Its now down to Mason agreeing personal terms.
QUOTE "We’ve been speaking to sources around the Mason deal and they report a £3m deal has been agreed between the two clubs, but it’s now down to the player to make a decision. Mason has scored six goals in 24 appearances for Cardiff this season."

Wolves can confirm they are in advanced discussions with Cardiff City after making a significant bid for striker Joe Mason
City have received in writing a £3mill bid for Joe Mason from Wolves and I believe the deal will go through today
Finally good business by Cardiff City, City paid about £250,000 for Joe Mason from Plymouth.

Really shocked at this annis I thought we'd try and hold onto our players now with the embargo, shows a clear lack of ambition

A cracking deal for City, somebody order a taxi
Wed Jan 27, 2016 9:58 am
3m is a good deal for him i think.

Whilst I would bite their hands off for 3m, it leaves us extremely short upfront, Saadi played in the development game but he's obviously not match fit again so if he plays as first team straight away he's likely to get injured again

Would this push the watt deal through if it happened?

No as we still have a transfer embargo, Charlton have said they are only interested in selling Watt now

Good deal for us ,bring in another player on loan
Wed Jan 27, 2016 10:22 am
I have always liked Joe but he hasn't really delivered this season and as every player has a price then at £3m I can see why the club has said YES.
Good luck to the lad just a pity we can't offload Le Fondre on a buy one get one free deal at the sametime.

Hes not worth anywhere near 3mill. Snap their hand off.

Wolves have got money to spend and, by the looks of it, a fool in charge of the cash. Lack of ambition? This is great business. Was it lack of ambition when the Jacks sold Joe Allen or Bony for way over their worth to clubs prepared to pay? NO, it was excellent business. About time we did it too.

Take it

Can't agree with this.
I'm not one for selling our best players but this is a great deal if it comes off. Well over double what he's worth IMO.
I think it was quoted that we'd not be selling 'our crown jewels'. For me that means Marshall, Manga, etc.

Bloody 'ell !!! If this is accurate it is the best business we've ever done and Wolves can't have ever seen Mason play !!
I would have said he's over priced at £1m never mind £3m !!!!!
Shame we can't spend £2m of it on Watt who's twice the player that Mason will ever be and younger.

I don't disagree about the fee just the timing of it,we can't spend the money remember it's all well and gd selling players to line tans pockets before he sends us into administration

Take the money and run. Wolves have seen something in him that I have obviously missed.

I think the Riddler had something to do with transfer. Anyway, does anyone know if there was a sell on clause added by Plymouth?

Yes that's a bottomless pit but it's just too much to turn down.
Ideally, we would get 3mill and put it straight into buying a classy player but that ain't going to happen mate.
Wed Jan 27, 2016 10:42 am
Good timing for the club? Sell any players they can, knowing we cannot buy any replacements. The fans cannot demand new players as we know they are not allowed to buy any.
One positive is that Slade will not be allowed to waste any more money on useless lower league players, injury prone ones or ones for the future.

Ffs tan can't put transfer fees in his pocket ,it has to go through the books
Now it can reduce our debt

Having £3m to spend on a striker.... Watt or Mason. It baffles me!!!
Great business for us though
Good luck Joe!
Wed Jan 27, 2016 10:47 am
Whats the use of £3m when we are on transfer embargo.
My opinion this deal is poor and will come back to bite us , we are selling the best finisher in the club ,we just never played a system to get the best out of him

Great money, but not a penny piece will go on team strengthening, this money will all disappear down a big Malasian hole

No your right, Mad man Tan will just go down in the clubs history as the man who ripped the club and its soul apart whilst laughing all the way back to Kula Lumpa in his red jump suit. bluebird:

Joe Mason has been the most disappointing player this season. I thought with the experience he had gained over the last couple of years that now would be the time to see the best out of him. Saturday was a typical example of his play - great for the first 20 minutes and then disappeared without trace. I can't believe Wolves would have watched him on Saturday and think he was worth £3m.
Charlton haven't sold Watt yet, and I suspect that if he is still there on Sunday evening a loan deal back to us with an offer to buy him when the embargo is lifted could yet see him return to us. (Does anyone know if this sort of deal is allowed under FFP?)
