25/01/16 Matthew Kennedy joined Port Vale on a one-month loan deal from Cardiff City

Matthew Kennedy played 73 minutes in an 'impressive debut' for Port Vale tonight in their 1-2 win over Doncaster Rovers

Assisted the first goal and had a shot saved.

AJ Leitch-Smith scored in each half as Port Vale beat Doncaster to move to within three points of the play-offs.

He dinked home a cross from debutant Matthew Kennedy, who had a shot saved by the legs of Thorsten Stuckmann.

Vale weathered an early second-half storm from the home side, but Leitch-Smith doubled their lead, converting at the second time of asking.

Cedric Evina pulled one back towards the end when his cross went straight in, but it was too little too late.

It was a first league defeat in five for Doncaster, who have slipped to 14th in the table.

Shocked they've let him go to be honest, he's better than league 1.

Should at least be in our match day squad.

Agree totally. He dyed his hair and Noddy thought he was someone else, so didn't pick him!

Norms, I think Slade has now signed about 15 players since he took over including Kennedy, yet only a couple ever player.

To be fair to Slade he hasn't spent huge money on the new players and you have to accept that some will work and some won't, but at least he's not spending £m's and committing to huge wages.

That is true but you have to think Slade has missed a trick with Kennedy. Signed for nothing and could have been a star this season.

Its still a waste of money for a club thats meant to be cost cutting and trying to live within its means. Theres been players signed that have been no better than the young proffesionals we have. Complete waste.

300k for Revell and probably that in wages as well. Thats 600k. Waste.
Tamas wages. Waste.
O Keefes wages up until very recently. Waste.
Ameobi. Loan fee and wages. Waste.
Doyle 1m plus wages for 6 months even if hes only on 8k/10k a week thats another 200k-250k. Waste.

I could go on.

When he's good enough he'll be in the first team squad

If he can add goals to his game he can be a premiership quality player in the future imo.

I thought we loaned him out to get game time
I didn't realise we sold him

Why do we need to loan him out to get game time when he is good enough to get game time here?

Kennedy is on loan and I would argue playing in Div 1 is better than the Dev League, OK there is an argument that he should be in the City squad however that's another debate.

As for the calculations on how much money Slade has 'wasted', feel free to do the same for Ole and then it will be put into context!

I didn't say we had sold him my point was Kennedy could have been a star this season if he was given game time. As he was brought in for nothing it would have looked good for Slade's transfer activity.

Exactly, people think signing a load of players on lower wages and lower fees isn't a waste of money for some reason. When we are trying to balance the books each season the last thing we should be doing is signing players for fees and then loaning them out.

Yes Olly wasted money but two wrongs don't make a right. Just cos Slades hasn't got the budget Ole had it doesn't mean he's not wasting money.

If we're slashing costs and cutting our cloth accordingly what's the point of signing journeymen instead of giving people already on the books a chance?

Best thing would have been to not sign anyone and get rid of the players we have! now that is cost cutting!

It must be some of the field issues why Slade has t been playing him he was nailed on the team sheet near the end of last season.
