Thirteen people have been arrested this weekend after a fight allegedly broke out before a match between Birmingham City and Derby County earlier this month.

Police were called to the Royal Telegraph on London Road in Derby just after midday on Saturday, January 16,

It followed reports that Birmingham City fans had been assaulted by a large group of people in the beer garden.

The people arrested are all male teenagers, aged between 14 and 19 and from Derbyshire. They have been released on bail while the inquiry continues.

Police are also appealing for witnesses after a family’s silver car was attacked at 4.45pm that day in Derwent Parade.

The driver gave way to some football fans crossing the road. As they did so, one man hit the bonnet of the car.

The driver got out of his car and challenged the man and an altercation took place which ended in the man falling to the ground.

The driver’s wife was threatened by the group and one of the crowd kicked the car. Another fan hit the windscreen of the car causing the glass to break.
