Idriss Saadi is on his way back to fitness
Cardiff City have been handed a big boost with striker Idriss Saadi finally back in action following his injury nightmare and scoring on his return too.
The 23-year-old marksman played for the Bluebirds today in a development game in the Welsh capital against QPR and grabbed a first-half goal before being taken off at half-time.
The Bluebirds won the game 3-2 with Cardiff’s other two strikes coming from Tommy O’Sullivan.
But it is the return of Saadi which could pivotal for manager Russell Slade as he looks to keep his side’s Championship play-off push on course.
Saadi was a surprise signing by the Welsh club at the end of the summer transfer window from French club Clermont.
The frontman had already suffered from injuries in France having played little football in nine months there due to knee ligament damage prior to signing for the Bluebirds. He was carefully monitored by the Cardiff medical staff, but suffered another injury that ruled him out of the start of the campaign.
But Saadi finally saw action for Slade when he came off the bench with 13 minutes left in the Bluebirds’ 2-0 win over Reading back on November 7.
But it later emerged he had injured his hamstring again and Saadi has not featured since. Slade admitted it has been a deeply frustrating time for Saadi and warned Saturday’s trip to Huddersfield would still be too soon for the striker despite the return to action.
“He’s trained now for the last two weeks with the first team, more and more so,” said Slade.
“The Huddersfield game though might be a bit early for him. We might want to give him another game. But the signs are very positive.
“I am really looking forward to him getting a game under his belt, it will be good for him. It has been a frustrating time for him, incredibly frustrating to be honest.”

No panic, total control and nicely placed into the net. Looks Good
