Anthony Pilkington’s performance v Rotherham
If not for Anthony Pilkington, Cardiff may have struggled in their match against the Millers. The attacking midfielder had five shots and was the Bluebirds’ main attacking threat with striker Joe Mason having a tough time against Rotherham’s defence.
Pilkington seemed to find a lot of space in his role and showed composure and tenacity in the penalty area as he finished off the far post for his first and then pounced on a poor touch in the Rotherham area for his second.
Despite scoring an own goal past his own ‘keeper David Marshall, Pilkington proved to be key in City’s attack and without him they would have struggled.
Rotherham’s ever improving defence
Defensive ability is far too often based on goals conceded and while that is the case some of the time, in the Millers’ case it is not. Kirk Broadfoot has been a stalwart player in the side since his return to the starting line-up and he shows no sign of falling out of contention as he has put in a number of impressive performances.
Not only that, but Tunisian international Aymen Belaid is beginning to find his feet at Rotherham and put in a really good shift before being substituted due to an injury.
Before the game, Rotherham were again questioned on their ability to hold a lead or hold onto a point. Saturday’s draw against Cardiff showed that the Millers defence can put in a real shift and fight for results.
Full-backs Shay Facey and Joe Mattock are also improving and while Rotherham are still conceding and losing more than they are winning; it is encouraging to see Redfearn’s men being able to hold onto results like they did at Cardiff.

I have a feeling he wont be fit for Saturday. Unfortunately he is a bit of a sick note merchant and took a knock last week.

He isn't a 'sick note', but has problems with hamstring injuries. He should've been subbed as soon as he pulled up on Saturday. Another mistake !

Then we would've been down to 9 men and that could've cost us.
