A forum for all things Cardiff City

Joe Mason has been told he won’t be leaving Cardiff City this month after Championship rivals begin to eye up the Bluebirds striker.
21st Jan 2016
Wolves had been tipped to make a offer for the 24-year-old forward after making their interest known, with some reports claiming Kenny Jackett would be prepared to table a £1.6m bid.
And with others, such as promotion-hopefuls Burnley, known to be known admirers of the intelligent former Republic of Ireland youth international, it had been feared it could spark a January tussle for his services.
Yet while Cardiff are thought to value Mason at £5m, it is thought they are not seeking any offers for the player – and have assured him the club are not interested in cashing-in on him in the final few weeks of the transfer window.
Instead, Cardiff want to use the remainder of the month to try and add to their squad having insisted the transfer embargo placed on them by the Football League for breaking Financial Fair Play rules does not mean they have to bring in funds.
Mason has established himself as part of manager Russell Slade’s plans having initially undergone a slow start to his Cardiff career following a £250,000 move from Plymouth, three times being sent out on loan to Bolton Wanderers.
But he is now seen as a key part of the club’s future with little plans to be tempted by any advances. Cardiff, though, would be willing to listen to offers for other strikers on the books including Federico Macheda and Alex Revell.
And it has been reported that Eoin Doyle could be the subject of a bid from Preston to make his loan stay at Deepdale permanent.
Freeing up spaces in the first-team squad would enable Cardiff to bring in further players on loan as part of the loopholes in the transfer embargo sanctions, with Cardiff still hopeful of wrapping up a loan deal for Feyenoord midfielder Lex Immers.

They must be atleast looking for this rumour to not go away. The only thing stopping them is probably our high valuation of him.

Ryan, Kenny Jacket last time said they had never bid for him and that the rumour had come from South Wales.

Good I still believe Mason will become a main striker. An excellent finisher the best at the club by a mile and half.
