Cardiff want at least £5m for Joe Mason

Cardiff City have warned interested parties that they want at least £5m for striker Joe Mason.

Wolves are said to be at the front of the queue for the striker as they look to replace Benik Afobe, but reports now suggest that it would take a substantial bid for the Bluebirds to cash in.


Mason is considered one of the club’s most prized assets, alongside midfielder Joe Ralls and Cardiff are determined to ensure they get the best price possible for both.

Something is up and club are willing to let him go. Asked him on Monday morning are you going to training this morning he said no. He was away on Monday & Tuesday, yesterday he was home all day. Today has gone to training ground so think he has been in talks with another club or club have said we are letting you go and we are negotiating with another club etc

If true, that's a good offer. If I remember, we paid 250k for him. He hasn't bettered the first season he had with us, lacks pace and more often that not, doesn't contribute enough during games. He did however play well at Molineux last Saturday and must have impressed their coaching team.

I would accept £2 million. He's not Championship standard if you ask me. He's not looked the same since that injury the season we got promoted and I just don't rate him at all now. £2 million would be good business.

How can we sell him without having a replacement. Its only a possibility that Watt will return (very unlikely if Leeds offer to buy him).

Despite his critics, I would much rather have Mason than Revell or Macheda.

We can hardly rely on Saadi, as we don't know how good he is yet and he's always injured.

Selling Mason in this window should not be considered. Maybe in the summer though.
