Team News

:ayatollah: Cardiff City :ayatollah:

Cardiff will be without vice-captain Sean Morrison who remains out until later on in February.

While striker Idriss Saadi has made progress on his injury and is likely to return within the next fortnight.

Aron Gunnarsson missed out on last weeks win at Wolves due to illness and will be expected to return to the squad this week
however, Stuart O’Keefe’s excellent performance last week may make it difficult for the Icelandic midfielder to walk straight back in to the starting XI.

Anthony Pilkington and Joe Mason rotated in the front-line last week and it is unclear whether the Bluebirds will use the same system or whether they will revert back to the more attacking and traditional style of 4-4-2 at home.

Craig Noone will be high on confidence after scoring two high quality goals last weekend and will more than likely keep his place.

Centre-back Matt Connolly signed a new contract this week which will see him remain at the club until the summer of 2019. Connolly has been a key player for Cardiff this season making an appearance in every single Championship fixture thus far.

The back four will likely remain with Scott Malone, Lee Peltier, Matt Connolly and Bruno Manga impressing last week. Lee Peltier’s hamstring has been a small problem this season so if there is any problem there then Fabio may come in to replace the former Huddersfield captain but this is unlikely.

Plus Rotherham United

Rotherham are currently suffering from a number of injury problems. Manager Neil Redfearn said: “We’re short of bodies in midfield. We’ve got young Thorpey (Tom Thorpe) who is a utility player who can perhaps fill in a midfield position and we’ve got Manu Ledesma who can do maybe one of the two wide roles, but there aren’t obvious options in the midfield positions.”

“Lee Frecklington is out for maybe another couple of weeks, so as much as it’s about putting quality in there, it’s also about numbers.”

The Millers were without Leon Best, Stephen Kelly, captain Lee Frecklington (who will be out for another couple of weeks) and Farrend Rawson for their last outing with QPR and they could have to go without again with little news of their return. Rotherham completed the signing of former Leeds man Luciano Becchio who will make his début on Saturday.

I'm not a believer in automatically keeping the same team just because you win but in this case I think it's very viable as nobody had a bad game and things seemed to 'click' from what I've read.

We desperately need the win if we've any hopes of play offs.

Keep same team

Rotherham can confirm the signing of striker Luciano Becchio on a deal until the end of the season, he can play against Cardiff City.

Channelling our inner Arsenal I think a nice 4 -2 -3 - 1 would be good. Shame Saadi isn't fit yet so mason I guess up front.

If it were me I'd be going
Marshall
Fabio
Manga
Connolly
Peltier

Ralls
Gunner/okeefe/dickachoi

Pilks
Noone
Immers

Mason

Should give them something to think about.
