That's the end of the other rumour. ;)

Didn't really need another defender though.

The 31-year-old, who has put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half-year deal, follows Danny Graham to Ewood Park after the Sunderland striker joined on loan until the end of the season earlier on Wednesday.

Ward is reunited with Blackburn manager boss Paul Lambert, who signed him during his spell in charge of Norwich.

"It has been a busy few days to try and get it done, but I'm really pleased and I can't wait to get started training and crack on," Ward told the club's official website.

"I'm looking forward to putting on the shirt and hopefully being involved.

"Paul Lambert demands standards and he definitely brought mine up a few notches at Norwich and that's something I want to get back to on a regular basis."

Ward progressed through West Ham's academy and after a loan spell at Plymouth joined Coventry for #1million in 2006.

He joined up with Lambert at Norwich following a free transfer in the summer of 2010 and had a six-month loan spell at Nottingham Forest before joining Bournemouth in a permanent deal in 2013.

Blackburn earlier boosted their attacking options with the loan capture of Sunderland striker Graham.

Blackburn have signed four players during the current transfer window, and both Wednesday's arrivals are expected go straight into the squad for Saturday's Sky Bet Championship game at Charlton.
