The Falklands have always and WILL always be British.

Only country that can lay claim to it is the French. The history of the Falklands was that during the colonial erase, possibly napoleon time, French troops were resting there. Our navy went passed, saw them, defeated them and ever since the union jack has flown there.

Because a vast amount of oil has been discovered. This year Britain are doing an exploratory drill to see exactly how much oil is there.

But want to know the funny thing? Argentina have f**k loads of oil. Honestly, they're in the top 10, I believe) on oil. However, against expert advise, they didn't build enough oil Wells to produce shit loads. Argentina, with the pilot they have, can forget about their economic woes (they're on the brink of yet another default) and could actually boom.

Buuuuut, Fernández being a nut job always used the Falklands as an excuse for her election campaign. Look it up, every campaign when ran in, there was a diplomatic row between Britain and Argentina.

The important thing is the ofcourse, the falklanders DEMOCRATICALLY voted to remain British.

Argentina never controlled nor claimed sovereignty over the Falklands and the south sandwich islands. Before we took them. In the eyes of the international law it's legal.

Okay, good answer. The Argentinians only bring this up when they want to deflect attention away from there failings as a government, they were rioting about food prices a few years ago and the president a day later said she was going to do everything to get the Islands back, it works every time.

Because I am always puzzled as to why people get so worked up about an island thousands of miles away which plays little part in the day to lives of the average person in the UK. Like I said I don't really give two shits about whether or not it stays British. It's up to the people of the Falklands and at the moment they want to remain British which is enough for me I guess.

Well, perhaps, PERHAPS, people in Britain are fed up of the row between Britain and Argentina and recognise the FACT that tells Falklands are LEGALLY British.

Totally agree with the principle Wez and if it is British it should remain British, but on the other hand, we only went to war over it, if we are honest, to keep Thatcher in power, because she had fucked up in Britain at the time.
Very similar, in many ways to her stance against the miners in 1984/85.

Thatcher probably knew about the potential oil field as well
