He's a name that has come out of the blue, but Swansea's potential new head coach Francesco Guidolin has plenty of experience.

He has managed 11 different Italian teams as well as Monaco and was heralded in Italy for guiding Udinese to two consistent finishes in Serie A's Champions League places, including third-place in 2012, which equalled the club's best-ever league finish.

Prior to joining Udinese in 2010 he promoted Parma back to the Italian top flight from Serie B, after two years with Palermo.

He has recently worked as the technical supervisor to Udinese, Granada and Watford.

Swansea have told us that they are close to appointing former Udinese head coach Francesco Guidolin to work alongside manager Alan Curtis.

It is hoped Guidolin will be in the stands for tomorrow night’s game against Watford and the club intend to reassess the situation in the summer.

If this means a different role for Curtis to what was announced the other week, then Swansea are becoming a bit of a joke. Their media approach clearly needs some work.

Just seems like they've lost control of things down there.

Basically Jenkins has realised that Curtis isn't up to the job and is trying to shield Curtis from the embarrassment of back tracking and appointing a new manager after all. All this bollocks about how the players have responded to him, no way to treat a so called legend at the club

Let's hope we never find out. Still the right move by the jacks. Curtis would have taken them down IMO.

Let's hope this constant chopping and changing causes a few bad results....

A few more bad results you mean :laughing6:
Sadly I think they will have enough to stay up but it's nice that the constant bleating has dried up for the time being.

They don't seem to have the stomach for a relegation fight which is great news :laughing5: :laughing5: :laughing5:

Many people seem to think they have a good enough squad to stay up. I'm not being biased as a Cardiff City fan, but I don't think they do.

Yes, this is their 5th season in the Premier League. But that doesn't mean much.

Newcastle - 2003/2004 - 5th.
Newcastle - 2008/2009 - 18th (relegated).

Five years difference in the above stat. It's all about having the right manager at the end of the day.

If they do appoint this new guy, hopefully he isn't capable of keeping them up. They've been giving it the big one for too long now. :sleepy2:

Agree mate

I originally thought that they had enough in the tank (no pun intended) to avoid the drop, given there are several teams that are worse than them. But talking to a few Jack mates, I'm not so sure this will be now the outcome. And listening to the BBC Wales phone in last night confirmed what they they had said in terms of lack of investment, directors taking money out, the need for 3rd party investment, player recruitment etc.

One of the key things I remember in our disastrous PL season and after seeing most of our home and away fixtures was that we actually played some decent football in IMHO & there were teams there worse than us so we could finish 16th/17th even when the wheels were coming off with the off-pitch rubbish. Once the wheels are coming off for whatever reason plus your in the relegation dogfight can be like quicksand and I just wonder if that's where Swansea are headed now.

They seem to have actually shipped out the kind of players you'd think they'd want around for a relegation dog fight too (which they are in, unless they go on a mammoth run ASAP). Selling Shelvey was an absolute mistake on their part, and to a relegation rival! It's his bloody great performance yesterday that helped Newcastle leapfrog the swans and push them into the relegation zone!

It does feel like that. We had dodgy decisions go against us, last minute goals to beat us and occasional disappointing hidings at home to relegation rivals.
Then all of a sudden other clubs just started moving away from usand it felt inevitable.

Well heres hoping! :thumbright:

You still don't get it, we're toying with your emotions, we'll be fine, bad result last week, red didn't help. A win tonight and we can all breath a sigh of relief as I know you all want to get behind the only club from Wales with a cat in bells chance of sustaining premier league status

Aye red didn't help us either.

So it's all a major ploy?

A win against Watford is not guaranteed, fella, and sadly you cannot play ManUre 38 times a season! :laughing6:

You don't have the firepower to 'guarantee' staying up and whilst sadly I think you will, even a numpty like you can appreciate the immense pleasure it would give to the members of this great Forum (so good you cannot stay away ;) ) to see the bottom drop out of your smug little world! :ayatollah:

Watford have been significantly better than you all season, so therefore they are the favourites to win. You need to open your eyes and see just what a serious situation you are in. You've been spoilt with success over the last decade and your bubble is very close to bursting.

Come on Watford! :ayatollah:

Im glad you've ditched 'Bowie'. That was in bad taste imo.
