Cardiff City recorded an impressive 3-1 win away to Wolves on Saturday thanks, in no small part, to Craig Noone’s influential contribution.

The winger scored two superb goals and assisted the third to set City on their way to victory.

It was a performance befitting of a squad clearly uniting in the face of a week of adversity following defeats to Shrewsbury Town and Hull City.

The result meant that the Bluebirds completed the double over their Black Country opposition, following a 2-0 victory at Cardiff City Stadium in August. Shortly after the final whistle, an elated Noone shared his thoughts.

“I was delighted with those two goals today,” Craig began. “I just need to keep going and take this kind of form into the next game and beyond.

“I felt like I grew in confidence with each goal and as the match went on - I was definitely playing with my tail up.

“For the second goal, I was right behind the ball as I struck it and was able to watch it the whole way. It was a great feeling seeing it sail into the corner of the net. I’ll have to watch it back to see if it’s the best goal I’ve scored this season. I think the ones against MK Dons and Fulham would be right up there as well!

“The assist for our third goal was really pleasing too – it was nice to see Joe Ralls get on the score sheet.

“Overall, it was a fantastic team performance and we did really well, man for man. We dominated the game from start to finish and we managed to see it out without any problems. We’ll gain a lot of confidence from this going forward.

“It was probably the best ninety minutes we’ve produced this season and the positivity on display was the highlight of my day. We always want to do better though and we’ll have a look in the coming week at areas we can improve.”

Craig was also full of praise for teammates Lee Peltier and Anthony Pilkington. The latter had a fine afternoon at Molineux, demonstrating his versatility by leading the line expertly for Russell Slade’s men.

“Pelts and I have got a really good understanding down the right hand side,” Craig continued. “It probably helps both of us being Scousers as it means we can understand each other! We’ve played a lot of games on the same side now and the way we play together is getting better all the time.

“I thought Pilks was excellent up front for us too. His hold up play was fantastic and he was a real handful for their defenders who had a lot of experience between them. He clearly thrived on the opportunity of playing in the number nine role and he produced the goods for us.”

After yesterday i can't see us keeping him. Norwich need goals and when on song in the right formation can be a match winner.

Perhaps that's why he played out of his skin but Choo did say NO key players will be sold

A decent offer will always be listened to.

Nooney always tries, it just came off for him yesterday. It was probably nice for him to run on grass rather than the sludge of our field.

I think Noone will be a definite target in this window. And Choo is hardly going to say yes we have a yard sale going on come and browse our players live on air

Did he play better because he could dispose of the charade that he is a conventional 442 winger.

Needs to be in a modern 4231 or 433 system

To many posters judging managers and players off one performance, nooney clearly had a good game yesterday and that's great news couldn't be more pleased as his effort level is great. He has been poor for a few years, consistency needs to be added and I wouldn't think twice about selling him unless of course yesterday wasn't a one off and he rediscovers his form of a few years back. I really hope he does because he can be a match winner

He does need to be more consistent.

I've always liked Craig Noone. Always comes to play always pulls something out of the bag

I get nervous when players start talking about us getting in the top 6, I'm sure earlier in the season Pilkington was saying something similar and we went on a awful run. Let's do our talking on the pitch and not put so much pressure on ourselves.

Although our next 3 games a very much winnable and if we put n the same comittment as we did against Wolves a thing can happen. :ayatollah:
