I believe one of the higher profile players will be gone this window. I thought it would be him or Pilkington.

Cardiff have the right to tell Iceland to f**k off if they called Gunners up. It's not a FIFA international window, we would be well within our rights to refuse him to join up with the squad.

Most likely he is in Cardiff recovering from illness.
He's their captain. If he was fit and with the Iceland squad he would have been on the bench at least, and probably played.

Fair enough - seemed like the logical answer to the original question, but as you say, surely they would have wanted their captain in the squad.
