Bluebirds hierarchy poised to act if results continue to go wrong, with caretaker boss set to take team until end of season

Under-fire manager Russell Slade has been given three games to rescue his job at Cardiff City, WalesOnline has learned.

Bluebirds owner Vincent Tan, who has heavily supported Slade, has apparently seen enough and is poised to take decisive action if results do not pick up quickly.

Cardiff’s next three matches see them go to Wolves, meet Rotherham at home and then travel to Huddersfield.

With Slade’s side having dipped down to ninth in the table and crashed out of the FA Cup to lower league Shrewsbury, the Cardiff hierarchy want an instant upturn in results.

If Cardiff continue to lose, Tan could choose to appoint an interim manger until the end of the season. Head coach Paul Trollope would be one leading candidate, although the Bluebirds could go outside the club.




Slade’s future has been discussed at the highest level following the embarrassing FA Cup loss to League One Shrewsbury.

Some leading officials believe change is needed quickly if the Bluebirds’ hopes of securing a Championship play-off place this term are not to totally disappear. We’re told Tan is beginning to fall into agreement with his senior staff.

Slade's task appears to have been made more difficult by the transfer embargo which has been slapped on the club.

However, some fans believe the players already at the club should be achieving better results.

Wednesday night’s 2-0 defeat to Hull saw Slade’s side slip seven points off the top-six. Cardiff have 20 games left to try to rescue the season, with gates having fallen away dramatically.

Slade, who took over at the club in October 2014, will be given the chance to try to bridge that points gap starting with the game away at Wolves on Saturday.

We had our reserve team out against Shrewsbury - they were so bad that they showed why they don't play every week. And then we played a banker for a return to the Premier League at their own place. What do people expect FFS? The Slade out brigade want to prove that Slade is useless - these last 2 games do not prove that.
