Steve Cotterill sacked by Bristol City.


Steve Cotterill has been sacked as manager of Championship strugglers Bristol City.

Cotterill took over in 2013 and won the League One title and the Johnstone's Paint Trophy in his second season.

The 51-year-old has previously managed Nottingham Forest, Portsmouth, Notts County, Burnley, Stoke, Cheltenham Town and Sligo Rovers.

He leaves City, who host leaders Middlesbrough on Saturday, in 22nd position - two points from safety.

The team have failed to win in seven matches and assistant manager John Pemberton and Wade Elliott, boss of the club's under-21 side, will take interim charge.

Club chairman Keith Dawe said the success of last season "will live in the memory for a long time", but added: "Sadly, since the highs of last March and May things have not gone our way on the pitch.

"The club's aspiration is to ultimately become a Premier League club and this decision has been made to achieve our overall strategy for growth and player development."

At least the Wurzels have a strategy!

I'm no expert on these matters, but I think that might be because we are not stuck in the relegation places on 21 points. If that were the case then Slade would be gone. (Though I know some City 'fans' would like us to be in the relegation places just to get rid of Slade. With fans like that who needs JBs, Scouse shirts and MancUscum in the city eh!)

I do agree to a certain extent, however We are where we are from quite some time ago! Our form is exactly the same as boltons at moment, we are falling away rapidly and got dumped out of the cup in what should really be seen as an unacceptable result against a team that has only taken 3 points from 24 and on the back of a 7-1 defeat! Never mind looking up We are only 6 points above 17th!

We also struggled at home against this Bristol side! I've lost confidence in Slade and it seems a lot of the players have too! Once you lose the players it's all downhill!!' Look at Jose with Chelsea he'd lost the dressing room, now they are undefeated under hiddink!

I really expected Brrrsol City to do a lot better than they have this season under Steve Cotterill

However, their Board have taken a brave decision and now ours must do the same. Their plight is no different to ours; two teams under performing regardless of their respective league positions
