Why Russell Slade is even more unpopular than Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal

14 JAN 2016

BY PAUL ABBANDONATO

Another Cardiff City defeat has seen more fans call for their manager's head - could Russell Slade be even more unpopular than Louis Van Gaal?

Neither Louis van Gaal or Russell Slade are popular with their fans right now

So, what have Louis van Gaal and Russell Slade got in common?

On the face of it, very little. But there can't be too many managers right at this moment in time more unpopular with their own fan base.

Leeds' Steve Evans is another in the running, although it's probably fair to say a few of the Elland Road fans have begun to be grudgingly won over... even though they appeared pretty much 100 per cent against his appointment at the time.

For Van Gaal and Slade, on the other hand, the connection with their own fans remains strained, to say the least.

A poll of United fans on Mirror.co.uk saw 89 per cent vote for the Dutchman to go, a clear protest at the lack of wins, absence of goals and boring style of play his team has produced for the most part this season.
