' Gary Monk as next Cardiff Manager? ? ? '

My Opinion
I know our fans are desperate to get rid of Russell Slade and the Echo in my opinion have turned on him big time,But for me the South Wales Echo have gone to far, I would rather stick with Russell Slade than have Gary Monk as our manager.

.. Next Cardiff City manager Garry Monk???

Don't choke on your food, yes this would be a real left-field choice.

But, just for a moment, leave aside the fact that Monk is steeped in tradition with what Cardiff fans would dub 'that lot down the road'.

Isn't he exactly the sort of hungry, young manager with fresh ideas that many Cardiff fans would like?

Garry Monk parted company with Swansea. Would any Cardiff fans accept him as manager in the Welsh capital?
Monk parted company with Swansea a month ago, but he did take them to a record high Premier League finish only in May. And he was, remember, being touted as Roy Hodgson's England successor only this autumn.

Likelihood: Monk's Swansea connections make this pretty much impossible. But would some deeper-thinking Cardiff fans prefer him to Russell Slade?

No chance, I don't even think he's a good manager think he inherited a decent squad and played the same style they have been for years now he's been there a while he got found out (hence sacking)

By a journalist who was a huge supporter of the rebrand to red and a key figure in suppressing the Echo`s support for a return to blue until the supporter pressure for a reversal got too strong for them to ignore and they had to do a u turn and pretend they were behind the fans again.

I've thought deeply about it and two things stand out:

1: Monk can 'do' one, so far as Cardiff City FC is concerned!

2: Abandonatto (even as a 'Jack' supporter) has finally succumbed to the wretched 'Tucker's Disease', which affects ones ability for logical thinking!

If they truly are short of stories to write, Media wales can always revert to type and 'fish' this great Forum for stuff that has at least some substance!

Some of the echo sports writers will do anything to sell the echo. It's a wonder he hasn't suggested Warren Gatland

what a load of old tosh!!!! couple of reasons:

a - he isn't a good manager anyway so if we want passion from within its Bellars all day
b - no chance from us
c - no chance from him

That has got to be the stupidest article I have read in a long time, what a waste a column. I really don't see the point in running a ridiculous article like that, it's got absolutely no chance of happening at all.

The echo have definitely got it in for Slade and they are just being publicity tarts to get hits. I would imagine, as we have discussed on here, that slades job is probably safe for now and in all likelihood he will remain in place until the end of season. A more likely scenario is that Slade will be here until his contract expires and then City will appoint Bellamy or promote Trollope.

Straight answer I want Tan and Slade to go Now.
Unless Tan is going to get a real manager in,with balls, theres no point as all we would be doing is swooping one muppet/puppet for another.

I wonder if the sports writers at the Echo have to study hard to become arseholes or whether they just have a natural talent that most of us are missing.

Totally agree, the possession football days are gone!

Moving the ball with pace and getting forward. Look at Leicester for example, have barely won a possession stat all season but when the break quick or get the ball moving with pace they make sue the chances count! Swansea got found out as have many other teams who like to keep the ball and pass it around at the back etc... As for monk, I agree, if he had anything about him they would have kept with him!

Even seeing his name in the sentence with Cardiff and manager is a big enough of an insult to us!

f**k OFF MONK

What a great idea!!! We coul have Monk as manager, Tate as assistant manager and Trundle as the fitness coach!!!
Then we would be assured of 30,000 plus at every home game.
