" TWO GAMES TO SAVE HIS JOB "

Tue Jan 12, 2016 8:04 am

BBC

Tuesday Jan 12th

Former Cardiff City captain Darren Purse believes Bluebirds boss Russell Slade may only have two games left to save his job at the Championship club.

Slade's side, who are currently ninth in the league table, lost 1-0 to League One Shrewsbury in the FA Cup on Sunday.

Manager Slade, 55, criticised his players after their third-round exit.

"I think the next two games are massive, massive games for Russell Slade and where Cardiff take their season," Purse told BBC Radio Wales.

"They're two tough games, away from home. Cardiff's form away from home has been poor this season."

Cardiff travel to third-placed Hull on Wednesday before a trip to in-form, 11th-placed Wolves on Saturday.

"Who knows what might happen after those games," former Birmingham and Sheffield Wednesday defender Purse added.

"If they (Cardiff) don't pick up points from those games, they could be seven or eight points away from the play-offs and the season's over."

Former Leyton Orient boss Slade has been in charge of Cardiff since October 2014.

I believe if Slade lost our next two games, Tan would prob finally realise and listen to Dalman ect.

Carl, I firmly believe he could be gone in less than a week.

Defeats in our next two games is not impossible.

I want Slade out but could never wish us to lose just to get rid of him.

I also believe two losses in the next two games will see him gone.
He won't be gone today as rydog insists!

We have people who follow our club(I won't call them fans) who want us to lose our next 2 games in the hope of sacking our manager! Pathetic.

After supporting Cardiff City for the last 50 years, and a long term season ticket holder travelling from Somerset to attend games, if Slade is still in charge at the start of next season I probably will support Taunton Town next season and will see more attractive football!

Yes - it is difficult to walk away from something you have been passionate for for such a long time - but this season the football has been dreadful. I think Slade will be gone though - so I will have no decision to make

Haha, could you imagine him somehow pulling that out the bag? I'd be f*cking shell shocked. But I guess it would mean the team has a fight a drive in them

Someone who has supported city for 50 years...from somerset decides he has has enough..that is his decision and I respect it...but someone with 85 on his name (either date of birth or been supporting city since then) tells him to go and support another team...disrespectful...

have some respect for someone who has supported city far longer than you

Mugsy nice to see you didn t rise to the insults

why threaten? Either you will or you won't

if you don't like the football, stop now!
Don't make the long journey from Somerset for the Rotherham game or any other after that if you don't like it.
Then come back when the football gets more entertaining for you. It's your choice.

but using words like "probably" just seems like you are pouting and attention seeking.

what a load of nonsense. fed up of these people coming out and saying they have supported the club for x amount of years.... have travelled x amount of miles like it makes them better than the rest of us.

hes actively hoping the team he claims to support lose, and you want me to respect him? nope.

As you say - its my choice - and as I have paid for my season ticket, I wont 'stop now'.

It can't be that bad then.

Re: " TWO GAMES TO SAVE HIS JOB "

We can't hope to lose two games it's not right.
1.It will effectively end our season.
2.It won't guarantee a new Manager..
I know in the grand scheme of things these two results probably will be irrelevant come May but you never know, come on City get 6 points and give us something to smile about again.

Lets remind everyone that Darren Purse reckons this to be the case NOT TAN so in theory this is not going to happen !

Paul,I can remember some people wishing for the same thing when DJ was boss, then Ole.I'd like to ask these people where this sort of thinking gets the club.

Fresh from his 'internal' source, Rydogsccfc last night assured us he (Slade) was going today! ;)

Personally, I think the end game is near but Tan is a little reluctant to 'pull the trigger' after (from his point of view) Russell Slade has done the job required

Simple choice for Tan now; listen to his 'on-site' Directors and appease the increasingly disillusioned fanbase or carry on regardless

Time to start complete the bridge you started building with the return to blue, Mr Tan ;)

And did you see that "Bentley" on Sunday? It was more like a Reliant Robin as it definitely had at least one wheel missing! I think the correct analogy is that our squad is an old banger with a couple of flashy gizmos hiding the rust driven by a guy who still has his L plates on!

Re: " TWO GAMES TO SAVE HIS JOB "

Tue Jan 12, 2016 12:43 pm

if you get to the point where a manager is in a position that the next couple of games will decide his fate, i always believe its best to sack him, since the review period is just delayed until the next run of poor form.

i feel for slade, he is doing a far better job than his predecessor, with a far lower budget, yet because he is not a big name fans have it in for him. i judge managers on their results and resources they have. i.e. on their management of the club, yes i know, its revolutionary thinking

it doesnt help having former players like purse putting more pressure on the manager, either. this is a time to support the team and not wait / hope for us to lose so the manager gets sacked.

Agree, our next 2 games let's face it are unlikely to be anything other than a loss and a draw at best

Get Trollop to look after the team tomorrow, and then review it in time for Rotherham game.

if he is on the cusp of going, just do it.
