Millwall U21s entertain Cardiff City this afternoon looking to extend a phenomenal run of results to eight straight wins when they host Cardiff City in an Elite Development Squad League match.

Justin Skinner's charges have picked up maximum league points from their previous five matches, including a thumping 4-0 victory at QPR and 5-1 thrashing of local rivals Crystal Palace.

The Lions other two successes have come in the League Cup, securing sparkling results at Swansea City (2-1) and most recently Wolves (3-1).

A key to the exceptional recent run has been the consistent level of performance produced by Skinner's team, which itself has remained fairly settled and based on a strong central defensive partnership of skipper Keaton Wood and Christian Mbulu, well supported by attacking full-backs James Brown and Noah Chesmain.

This afternoon's encounter is likely to see the likes of striker Jamie Philpot, plus midfielders Lee Martin and Paris Cowan-Hall get some useful match minutes under their belts too.

In-form forward Mikael Ndjoli will be hoping to add to the three goals he has scored in the past four games as The Lions look to keep the pressure on current table-toppers Charlton Athletic ahead of next Monday's mouthwatering clash between the two sides at VCD Athletic FC, Crayford.

Millwall's for today's game, which is behind-closed-doors, is as follows: King, Parr, Chesmain, Powell, Mbulu, Wood, Cowan-Hall, Farrell, Philpot, Martin L, Twardek, Brown, Girling, Donovan, Eze, Ndjoli.

There's no point in having an under 21 team with Slade in charge. So sad as all fans love seeing local kids coming through the ranks. As a kid/young adult I remember the likes of Nathan Blake, Andy Dibble, Damon Searle and Jason Perry making their debuts.
