Cardiff City boss Russell Slade has admitted the race is on to pin on-loan striker Tony Watt down to a permanent deal in the Welsh capital.
The 22-year-old marksman has proved hot property since joining the Bluebirds in November, but his current loan deal from Charlton will end on Saturday after Slade’s men take on Wolves in the Championship.
Watt has two goals in eight games for Cardiff, but has brought a fresh impetus to the Bluebirds’ attack as they look to keep alive their hopes of a Championship play-off place.
A deal with Charlton to sign Watt for a fee in the region of £1m is believed to already be in place, but Slade, who saw his side crash out of the FA Cup at the hands of League One Shrewsbury on Sunday , admitted the deal needed to be done as soon as possible.

If we miss out on this deal, then this is a major statement from the club as to the clubs exasperations going forward.
It will show fans the stategy for short to medium term is to asset strip and not reinvest

Darren, to be fair on Slade he wants Watt, its over to Tan.
Slade has got rid of player after player for Tan, so its time he backed him on this player.

its pretty desperate stuff, and watt must be signed its as simple as that. our strike force if we don't secure him would be mason, revell and macheda, which simply isn't good enough.
