Slade the statue

Mon Jan 11, 2016 9:00 am

It was the first time last night for us to sit in the Grandstand since we played Celtic to open the ground. Apart the the awful result it was interesting to watch Noddy Slade, who didn't even nod! His remarkable response to our pretty dire performance was to change from hands in pockets to arms folded. He did clap a couple of times when we shot on target. He made a statue look animated! Trollope seemed to give up at times and sit down. What the defeat did show was just how poor our squad is. Revell was totally ineffective and he definitely should've picked a winger with more pace from the start like Kennedy. The substitution of Fabio was baffling, but we never have the tactics to deal with teams 'parking the bus'. Sadly, the biggest problem with Slade is that we aren't going to attract really good players here with him in charge. What a contrast between him and our popular ex-player Gareth Ainsworth who, managing Wycombe against Villa was there on the touchline,so passionate and involved, like a young Martin O'Neill.

f**k me I looked at the title and was truly shocked! I thought someone was suggesting a commemoration to the great man in bronze. It would look great on top of the burger bar with a dunce's cap on!
