It is always dangerous to read too much into a game. Certainly you can argue that its mainly down to the manager to motivate his players. But 11!players went onto the pitch and as a group they not only played poorly, but they did not show enough urgency and PASSION.
6 Points.....that I think the manager is mainly responsible for - he picks the team and buys the players
1/ there was little or no pace in the team
2/ the midfield lacked any creativity and was appallingly slow.
3/the best attacker on the pitch played for Shrewsbury.
4/Revel still does not look Championship standard -although I appreciate he must be low on confidence.
5/Whittingham has been a good servant ...etc. But why make him captain? His body language and style of play has never earmarked him as a captain. As it happens he had a
stinker. (That can happen to any player but when the team is playing badly he will not roll up his sleeves and lead from the front).
6/why leave it till 1-0 before making a change? When Kennedy came on he made some difference. Also Noo be immediately looked dangerous, but he only came on close to the end.
I can accept you did not want to risk Watt. And you wanted to give some players a rest but Noone and Kennedy didn't need a rest! (And whatever happened to Declan John).
I realize that the team can have a "bad day at the office", and credit to Shrewsbury.
BUT
When I see some bleeding obvious problems with the selection and the performance in the first half I have to query why the manager remains on the touchline qithgis arms folded and doing / saying nothing!
