Cardiff City and Wales are discussing the possibility of re-laying the Cardiff City Stadium pitch before the end of the season.
The surface has deteriorated recently, prompting criticism from Cardiff's players and manager Russell Slade.
A new pitch could be laid in time for Wales' expected friendly against Northern Ireland in March.
"We'll see if there's a period we can maybe do something about it because it's not an easy surface," said Slade.
"There are certain companies who will get it down in a very quick period of time if you need to do something, but it will be a financial decision for that.

presume to ask for funds as it was wales game that stopped pitch being relayed?

besides surely a bit of tlc in drying pitch out under covers would help, must be something possible in this modern age to help dry out pitch?

So he's now blaming our pitch
Both teams play on it.
Also we are crap when we play away as well.

Exactly what I thought Annis.
We wouldn't do any better if we played at Wembley or Old Trafford every week.

Ned, when a manager starts making excuses, you know then, he's lost it.

Annis all managers make excuses though but with with Slade they are desperate petty excuses.

hate it when someone put out edited versions of convesations, bet slade was asked about pitch he simply replied club in talks with wfa about emergency repairs! nowhere in the snipit does he actually blame pitch for performance? just fans (unbiased)

interpretation of what he said!

Aye can't believe the pitch didn't put the ball in the net never mind the fact we can't create chances against a league one team

It is beginning to look like the pitch wasn't re-laid because of cost cutting. How the hell they can do anything about it in mid season I do not know.

We did create a few good chances, but failed to take advantage.

"We're talking about that with [Cardiff chief executive] Ken Choo and Wayne Nash, the stadium manager.

Wales game as been stated several times on here prevented it being done!

Maybe Nash should get back to his groundwork rather than interfere in club affairs and kill the atmosphere at the club
Mon Jan 11, 2016 11:44 am
We have only lost one home league game so maybe we should be GLAD the pitch is so bad
Mon Jan 11, 2016 12:07 pm
So... Two free months in June and July are not enough time to relay the pitch... But two weeks mid season between critics league games will be enough time... Am I missing something or is this the usual razor sharp analysis and action by Cardiff City hierarchy...

you have to laugh

You guys are a joke; there is not a single quote posted in this thread where Slade has even suggested the pitch is to blame for our poor form, yet he's someone getting slated for it!
Regardless of your opinion on the man, it's extremely poor form to criticize him for things he's not said, especially from more senior members of this forum.

Cardiff City are intending to re-lay the playing surface at The Cardiff City Stadium before the end of the season, according to BBC Sport.
The Bluebirds suffered an embarrassing 1-0 home defeat to League 1 strugglers Shrewsbury Town in an FA Cup Third Round tie on Sunday evening in a match which saw the turf at the £48 million arena substantially cut up.
South Wales has seen exceptionally heavy rainfall in recent weeks and neighbours Newport County have also suffered problems with their playing surface after seeing their last 2 home matches postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at Rodney Parade.
Cardiff City Stadium was opened in the summer of 2009 and hosts the Welsh National Team’s home fixtures as well as Cardiff City’s own fixtures. The stadium has also hosted concerts on the pitch in recent years.
The turf at Cardiff City Stadium is made up of natural grass and synthetic fibres which are supposed to provide the club with a reliable playing surface. The club were planning to re-lay the pitch last summer however Wales were scheduled to face Belgium at the stadium in June.
The playing surface has come under criticism from Cardiff City players and management and the club are now looking at the possibility of re-laying the surface within the next 6-8 weeks.
